Power Supply Pop on switch on

Hi everyone and sorry for digging this dinosaur thread. I've been looking all around the internet trying to find any logical explanation to what happened to me. Even reddit couldn't help. This thread is the closest I got to finding something relatable with my problem. Here is my story, which I posted on reddit. Maybe someone here can help me understanding what's going on.

Ok so in my life I've built many pcs, I'm not new to this. Last month I decided I wanted to build a new budget pc. I ordered all the parts on Amazon and everything worked fine. A couple of days later, was on Sunday, I was waking up and I heard a loud POP in the house (not coming from the pc, apparently). At first I didn't find what it was, until maybe an hour later I tried turning on the pc and it was dead. I then proceeded testing an old psu and it worked just fine, so I sent the new one back to Amazon to get a replacement, thinking it was probably a faulty one. Couple of weeks later I got the new replacing unit. Took off the old one I was using meanwhile and assembled the new one. Now, 6 days later, another loud pop, and the new psu is gone (again, pc was turned off). Now I am starting to think that some thing's wrong with all this... I searched all around the internet but seems that nobody had this problem ever. Maybe someone could help me giving me a clue.

My rig specs are

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200g MOBO: Gigabyte Aorus B450 M RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws 2x8 GB 3200 mhz GFX: AMD Radeon RX590 SSD: Samsung Evo 860 PSU: Corsair TX 650 M

The other psu I used for a couple of weeks flawlessly is an LC Power 6550 v1.3

Also, today the electrician is coming to see if there's any problem with my wall socket. I've changed the power strip already and got a filtered one. My electrical system is new (made from scratch in 2019), and apart from that I've never had any other problem with that same wall socket or any other socket in the house, I've been plugging there laptops, monitors, speakers, and also my backup psu, which for now seems to have no issue at all (touching my balls).

Is it even realistic that I got 2 faulty products in a row? I am now scared that any new psu I buy is going to die. Anyway when the Amazon refund arrives I decided I'll try to buy another brand (maybe evga or something else) and see if thst happens again.

If anyone has any idea, please share it with me because I'm kinda lost.

As above, large inrush current spike as it charges the capacitors immediately when you flip the switch. My old OCZ power supply does it so i tend to leave the switch alone !

Yea well I didn't explain well, my problem occurred with pc turned off when I wasn't even touching it, and I never touched the psu switch (I always leave it on). I just had 2 new identical psu's dead in 8 days.

Yeah I'm starting to think that was really bad luck, especially because with my LC Power 6550 I'm having no problems at all.

I know for sure that the next replacement will not be a corsair psu.

Good afternoon folks.
I have been reading through this thread and felt compelled to join and say my bit.
I too, have just had a three year old corsair Rm1000x go bang on me, and die.
The popping started about six weeks ago.
Then, as I was gaming!
I noticed that my room started to smell of burning.
Long story short! Next time I switched on.
It was the final pop, then curtains.
Corsair will not accept an RMA, because I bought it brand new on Ebay, and can't find my receipt.
I will never buy a corsair again.
I have it opened up now, and can't see anything wrong, apart from a cracked capacitor.

I don't know of any manufacturers will accept returns without proof of purchase.

It's a standard practice.

Did you ask the seller for a copy of the receipt ?

I looked into my purchase history.
It was no longer there.
Must have been just outside of the three years, that they keep a record.
I still have all the original box and bits, but alas.... I am snookered

Something may have caused that capacitor to pop further up or down the chain. If you can access your old emails from the time period you may get your invoice or proof of purchase from either Ebay or Paypal sending you one at the time. This is how i check my purchase history now and then.

Unfortunately I have changed my email address and PayPal account, since I purchased the psu.
All avenues have been explored.
It is one of the ceramic capacitors that has pretty much exploded.
It was leaning against one of those magnetic circular things, with a coil of copper wire wrapped around it .
Makes me wonder if it got hot.
It's only a small (green) one.
I would attach a photo, but not sure if you can do that on here.
I have the pc running again now.
I have purchased one of those aerocool things. To tie me over for now

Oh well add a plus one on this thread .
My RM1000x just went few hours ago.
Just like you guys, was making a bang when energised, did it for few weeks, then I tried to put plug it on a power strip,it looked ok for few days no pops at all but today massive bang with flash breaker tripped and after reinstatimg power the PSU is not powering the pc anymore.
It does light up the lights on the motherboard but when pushing the on button pc won't come on and making like a frying noise.

I already sent all the details to Corsair so hopefully they will replace my unit too (only had it about 9 months).

I just hope it didn't take any other components inside the pc too.

So if I'm gonna get my replacement I'm guessing I will just buy this surge protector

And then just leave the power to the PSU on all the time.

It's strange that we can't turn the power off to PSU anymore though,I have been doing it for years and never had any issues.

On the new psu! I can hear a positive click inside.
When it powers on and off.
I won't use the switch on the back of the psu anymore, but I will be switching off at the wall.

I was doing that,at the wall and only lasted 8 months, still waiting for them to reply but if they will swap it for a new one which they should do I will buy a surge protector and plug the PSU in it and leave it on all the time.
