Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

I had some Floureon and Flagpower Dewalt ones.

One died after about a year but the other is still working now about 5 years later.

Given how much cheaper they are. I’d be inclined to try them. Maybe just buy from Amazon though as you know returns are easy.

Mitre saw recommendations? Got a fair few DIY projects coming up and looking to invest in a mitre saw long term. Thanks

Budget?

A few of us on here have Evolution mitre saws. Perfectly fine for DIY. Had mine for years, it’s fair to say it’s built to a price but they are fairly inexpensive. It cuts straight which is all that matters in reality.

You can’t really go wrong with the likes of dewalt, Makita etc. They just don’t make bad kit but then you pay way more for it.

Which ever way you go, I’d get a sliding saw so you can cut wider material.

Anyone got a recommendation for a corded hedge trimmer mine has expired after 10+ years of service not bad for a B&Q cheaply that cost less than £20. Budget for a replacement isn’t fixed but something less then or around £100 seems sensible.

We bought a Bosch one about 8 years ago and it's still going strong. I can't remember the price but I'm 99% sure it was £80-100.

Anyone got any budget toolbox recommdations?

Got a bunch of tools, most are in their cases but then a number aren't. Drill, impact driver, sander, planer, circular saw. Wanted something stackable box type, which clip together. But don't wanna spend a lot as it's literally just holding tools.

These are words of a sensible bloke. Not a bloke like me who wants Festool Systainer boxes or full Dewalt Tstak lol.

Check FFX tools on Ebay right now. They have 15% off.

If you are looking for budget stuff then Id imagine Stanley or something do reasonably priced boxes.

If you are anywhere near Shropshire I have a Bosch one I don't use -bought it for new hedge but killed it off due to runners in lawns. Only used a few times. :)
I am sure we could come to a deal.

Ive just ordered an Evolution 255+ from them directly. What swayed it for me was the multi-material cutting as I cut up allsorts. 5% off your first order from them as well, should arrive tomorrow so will update when Ive used it (got skirting and some boxings to do over the next few days).

Have you considered cordless? I bought the Macallister one from Screwfix and I think its around £60, well worth it, battery lasts ages and its so much easier than a corded. Before that I had the corded Titan one (£30) which was ample.

I went corded with a mid price Bosch in the end it arrives tomorrow. I only have two smallish privet hedges to cut neither of which is more than 5m from my house so battery seemed like an unnecessary compromise this time. The added power of corded will come in handy for the periodic cut back when the privet inevitably gets too big for it’s boots!

Sheffield is a bit of a trick and I ordered one this morning thanks for the offer though!

Currently doing my bathroom out and replacing doors(inc casings) inside the house... Got myself a DeWalt multi Tool a couple of weeks back from Travis Perkins which was nice as they're normally pricey there. Tomorrow i have a new DeWalt impact driver and Circular Saw turning up along with a 5amp battery to help power them. got to love buying new tools i might use maybe once or twice after the current work. One of the jobs for when this is done is going be creating a custom shelving unit in the shed for my new tools and my golf clubs :)

It's a slippery slope lol. I really want a dewalt table saw yet I barely use my other tools nearly enough.

I've stopped myself buying a dewalt table saw. I would love to have one but I only need one 2-3 times a year and it will only be something else to store in the garage :(
