Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

The lever is a quick release, but it's not really that quick when you have to use the screw also, but it's quicker than the ones with no handle and just a screw, because those one's you have to do up tight otherwise the bolt comes loose pretty quick with those vibrations, The Milwaukee one you just do the screw up finger tight then close the quick release and it holts the lot together, you can actually just unscrew the bolt enough to slide a new attachment underneath.
The best ones are the ones with a lever but no screw, and the lever just opens the splines to keep the attachments secure.

Anyone need a cheap(ish) basic pressure washer? B&Q has the Karcher K2 on sale for £49 as part of their Black Friday event. I bought one of these a few years ago on a deal for £42 and it's been great. The only difference is that mine came with two lances, one general purpose and one for patio's/paving slabs.
I have one those.. with the patio lance, and slab cleaning wizzer. More water out of the wall tap.. but it works just don’t expect it to be a water cutting machine.

Thanks for the info. I could do with one of those.

I can’t find it anymore but I came across a video on tiktok of a multi tool blade sharpener thing that goes into a drill. Looks to work really well.

Depending on the cost and how much you use them it might be a worth while investment. I don’t use mine enough to justify it.

It was probably the Sharp Pog, about 45 doll hairs plus shipping from them direct as you can't seem to get it from Amazon. I thought about because the Starlock blades are expensive but not bothered yet.

Edit - a quick google and I probably wouldn't bother. If you are going through lots of blades then perhaps the Tigers Teeth Blades sharperner would be better but it's three times the cost.

I had a B&Q in house pressure washer (Performance range) for many years and it worked well on patio slabs. It did only come with one lance however. It worked for at least 15 years before it started to leak so I consider that it had given great value for the money.

I replaced it with a Karcher and although more powerful it often has the annoyance of having to remove the lance and bleed the hose line before use.

It's good but the 887 iirc is much better for not much more.

I agree the 887 is what I have and it's got the 3 level torque selector which means you can set it low for screwdrivering or higher for impact activities. It's £65 so only £15 more than that offer.

I didn't realise the 887 is only £15 more at FFX.

I've got a 787 but I'm now v tempted on getting the 887, why did I make my initial post!! :D :D

Just got a Camel Camel Camel email for the Bosch 12v down to £59 for Black Friday:

I bought one a year or two ago and is a nice light weight drill which compliments my 18v system, it's handy when you don't need the power of 18v and/or when you are working in tight awkward places.

Thought it might be of interest to some.
Always tempted by one of these or the milwaukee fuel one but I don't really need it.... I have a couple makita drills.

My makita sds today died and took a 5amp hour battery with it!! Hoping they will warranty replace the battery as the drill killed it. The battery compartment has been hanging off a while and before even to start to use it (misuse it as a paddle mixer....) it killed the battery.

Agreed. I don't need mine, I have a Ryobi combidrill and an SDS but the Bosch being much lighter and smaller is useful in certain situations. Plus you can never have too many tools! :)

I’ve got that drill, this is worth buying just for the batteries and case.

2ah batteries are £30 each, these are 1.5ah they might not last as long but spares are useful and a good excuse to buy more Bosch kit :D

Not power tool related but what's the ideal hand saw for cutting laminate flooring?

I've done one room already and the two saws I owned are blunted already so it's taking an age to cut through a plank now.

I could just go and buy a cheap 5 quid first fix saw but is there something more suited to fast cutting of laminate? It's the lengthways cuts that seem to do the damage to the saw.
