Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

Thanks but if I'm thinking whether to justify spending 200 I ain't going to be considering spending nearly 500.
Cheapest option would be a thermal camera module to hook up to a raspberry pi or Arduino etc (but unless you already have a pi then there's the cost of that)

Those are depressingly low resolution though, 8x8 at 10Hz. The mobile Flir was bad enough really!

Yep wouldn't be a great option, but it's the cheapest option I know of.

There are better sensors (80x62) available but they obviously cost a lot more

Fair enough, my man-tool-logic is a little different from yours :D. I can't justify £200 on something of limited functionality and bound to be obsolete in a few years but I can justify £500 on something that is functionally better and will last a lot longer.

Maybe that last sentence should have been put in the graphics card subforum :D.

I have the Topdon TC001, currently available for just over £200 on Amazon. Resolution is better than the Flir equivalent. There is also a Hikmicro, same resolution but £169.

I have just come across these in a box and at first didn't know what they were but after googling they seem to be some of the first hex holders.
These are Dewalt and as you can see one is for pilot holes and the other took the bit.
They do come up on Dewalt but no prices so think they have been obsolete for a number of year's - Been trying to clean them with those cleaning wipes. They were yellow originally but do not look as bad as picture shows.

They look very well used, but the pilot hole drill bit still looks sharp.

bought myself a milwaukee 12 ah high output battery on a black friday sale to add to my 8 ah HO battery. They are damn expensive.
It mainly for the chainsaw I bought earlier this year, although I'm also thinking of buying the quik-lok gardening tools (strimmer, hedge cutter, etc.) and it will be good for those too.

They still make them. They are called flip drives. The idea is that you have one bit that has a drill on one end and a driver on the other. When you go from drilling to driving you just flip the bit. They are expensive. About £25 each. Very handy if you are doing the same thing again and again and again..

Yes, I've been considering a large capacity battery for my garden tools, but they are so darned expensive!
