Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

They didn't have the laser level in there when I popped in earlier. The digital vernier gauge and bench vice might get picked up later though :p

I've recently bought the Titan one which is on sale for £40.

If I had Makita tools though I'd have gone for that I think.

Looks like the Amazon drill is no longer available.

Hope they still get shipped!

They were reduced to £179.99 for a while (Prime members only) until predictably, everyone from HUKD snapped them up and Amazon stopped listing them.

I again spoke to an Amazon rep yesterday and he stated that Dewalt have shipped the consignment of the drills and will process the orders once the fulfillment center has received them.

Hang tight my friend.

We're game now. If it's taken off, and we've not had our order cancelled... I'd say look forward to your new drill!

Mine due in october! :)

Thanks to whoever found the deal on here! Owe you a pint good sir.

You deserve an entire Spitfire plane!

My dates moved back again.

Just bought a guide clamp. I struggle to cut straight so hoping this helps.

I was eyeing up the Trend Varijig but it wouldn't arrive by the weekend so opted for the cheaper Silverline model.

Yeah i've got one as do a few other people in here. It's been great. Only thing i'd suggest is if you don't already have decent sized batteries to get a bundle with 4ah batteries. I got mine with a 2ah and even though it's brushless i find it runs out pretty quickly.

As for uses, i've used mine for

Cutting holes in plasterboard
Scraping old paint off gate hinges
Sanding skirting/plaster
Cutting under doorframes for laminate flooring
Cutting pipes when i couldn't get access to undo the nut on a tap

Probably others too that i can't remember at the moment.

For a lot of tasks there's probably a better tool for the job but for something to have in your toolbox that's versatile then it's great.

I've got a corded Bosch Multi-tool and, whilst I don't think I've had a task to do so far that I couldn't have done without the multi-tool, it has made a few jobs much easier. A somewhat memorable one being removing a broken toilet seat: the wingnut had corroded itself to the retaining bolt. Probably with a bit of time and brute force i could have screwed it off, or very slowly, thanks to the angles involved, sawed it by hand - but instead I just took 30 seconds with the multi-tool to cut through it.

I used my Stanley one the other day cutting a piece of wood out - only trouble was I hit a nail - They don't do dedicated metal blades do they ??

Mine has certainly earned it's keep - Have mains Lidl one as well - both were good buys.

I've got an Aldi multitool and it's great, the plunge saw blade on it has been particularly useful for tasks that otherwise would have meant brute force with a hammer and chisel or alike.

The only problem with it is the noise, it's a noise little thing - are the more expensive ones any better?

Absolutely ------------- Not - Both of mine are ear can friendly or even earplugs

I have the Aldi one, but i cant find the charger, been using it so far for removing an old central heating system, great for hard to reach pipes that i cant get my pipe slice onto.
Good for lifting floorboards as well. Seeing as i already have a dewalt impact driver with 2x 2ah batteries though i could get the multi tool.

Bought a wall channel chasing tool. Titan from screwfix. Wow, wish i had bought it ages ago! done a nice straight 2m channel in 5 mins. Hardly any dust if you use the hover to.
