These are brilliant and allow me to max my 40Mbps BT Infinity from upstairs, <2ms extra latency (if that, very hard to read the difference)

Mine (Netgear) is plugged directly into wall socket as in the extension it didnt give very good performance, albeit it was a surge protection extension lead.
What I don't get, is PV wireless is terriable. Yet wifi on tablet and phone never drops or causes. Problems, so why does it do it on a PC.

I can only hazard a guess; the network cards on mobile devices are better optimised? I don't know
Although, I'm getting the adapters that d_brennen has suggested. A friend of mine swears by them, and since he know his stuff, I'm going to trust him. Just worried whether I'll lose performance if I plugged them on extensions =/
My 85mbps run at ~20mbps when one is in an extension. I get ~30mbps with it plugged direct into the wall socket.

Powerline networking is very good, the speeds are much better than WiFi and the connection is much more stable.
It might not work with some electric wiring, so make sure you buy the powerline adaptor(s) from somewhere with a good returns policy, OCUK has a good policy.

Given my (short) experiences of powerline vs wireless, I'm not going to bother buying more wireless gear.
The powerline adaptors were as easy (if not easier) to set up than the wireless, and give a much more reliable connection. We've got a pair with one net to the router, the other about 60 foot away at the end of an armoured cable.
Our wireless signal from the router barely reaches 30 foot (thanks to a few walls) with a 20mbit link (from 300mbit adaptors
), the powerline kit gives a 70mbit link to the garage.

), the powerline kit gives a 70mbit link to the garage.I for one would go with powerline adapters, I use the TP-Link AV200 200Mbps Mini Powerline Starter Kit and they are amazing, just worked straight out of the box with no hassle and super stable with no loss of connection.
The one thing I noticed that made a huge difference with me was just to have the TP links plugged in by themselves and nothing else plugged in next to them in a double socket and this almost doubled my speed
I have an older wireless G router and I was considering upgrading to a wireless N router but after having used these I am just going to stick with what I have for the moment and it would have meant upgrading my laptop and other PC to wireless N anyway.
