*****PRE-ORDER: WINDOWS 7*****

I think that Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium E - Retail version will be including 32 and 64 bit disc and plus 3 licenses to activation 3 computers ?

Windows 7 E which is currently available to pre-order is a retail license which means it's single license which can be transferred from one machine to another as long as you first remove the copy from the machine it was originally installed on.

What you're referring to is a family pack which will allow installation of Windows 7 on up to 3 machines:

I know there have been some rumours going around about a “family pack” for Windows 7. We have heard a lot of feedback from beta testers and enthusiasts over the last 3 years that we need a better solution for homes with multiple PCs. I’m happy to confirm that we will indeed be offering a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium (in select markets) which will allow installation on up to 3 PCs. As I’ve said before, stay tuned to our blog for more information on this and any other potential offers.

Source - When will you get Windows 7 RTM?

Would you mind posting where in the OcUK Product Suggestions forum? I've checked again and can't find anywhere selling as low as that.

there is a place reselling at the old price for a 'limited' period.
\Not sure how or why but its there.

edit: as i finished my order and went back in it has since been withdrawn. so now it isnt. That really was 'limited'. I only just read the email and ordered for me mate :) email arrived at 9:35pm

If want to removed license from one computer and install on other computer, then how to get deactivated online before can be reactivation online on other computer ? or had to phone up microsoft how to uninstalled windows on one computer and installing on other computer with deactivated and re-activated.

Basically your key has a certain number of online activations before it's flagged by the MS servers.
So you buy Win 7 Retail, install and activate it.
Six months later you decide to move it to another machine, well you build your new machine, install Win7 and activate it.
MS's servers will see a second activation on your key 6 months after the original and will probably just let the activation through.

You only run into problems if you're constantly reinstalling the OS and reactivating it - that's when you eventually need to start calling MS to activate.

There is no deactivation like with other products - the worst case is you'll have to spend 5 minutes on the phone to MS while they transfer the license for you.

I just managed to secure Pro for £99.95, however as no money was taken I wonder if it'll stand (It is a very large well known retailer tho)

Sitting tight with the RC as for students this could be a lot cheaper. Bought Vista Ultimate x64 for £38 ;)

Yup, but it took over year for the Student `Ultimate Steal` offer to come out.

You might be able to pick up a EDU version of Win7 for about £70, but I'll doubt if the ultimate steal will be back anytime soon.

Oh, and I just picked up another £49.99 copy from somewhere, but I gave trhe link to my mate and by the time he clicked, they were out of stock.

Hello!

Does anyone know whether the license key supplied with E version will also work with the full release of Windows 7 released by Microsoft??? The reason why im asking is because I would prefer Windows 7 that has nothing removed from it, and so I might download the original MS MSDN DVD ISO image from the internet ones I buy myself a retail copy.

Thank you for responding.

Probably not no. I'm basing this on the fact that the recently leaked OEM key that's been circulating the net will work on Ultimate, but not Ultimate E.

I guess there's no way to tell until it's actually released though.

Mods: Sorry if the above reasoning isn't allowed on here, please delete this post if it isn't.

I don`t find the question I asked above is being ilegal in any way or against the forum rules, as I will only be using the media.

Does anyone know whether it's possible to purchase the non E version of Windows 7 in this country???

I was refering to the legality of the reasoning I gave for the keys not working, since the discussion of cracked operating systems is normally forbidden on here.

I doubt any retailers will be selling the non E version, you may be able to import it from the US though. It's a lot of effort to go through to avoid installing your own browser though =/

To top off the euthanisation of the E version, those who pre-ordered in the first run will still get the full version and not the upgrade version.... so that's an absolute win for the early birds i'd say!

Yeah, bonus, I had the upgrade version of Vista, its a pain in the bum installing it twice to get it working.
