*****PRE-ORDER: WINDOWS 7*****

If the £49.99 pricing is still available could someone post in the Product Suggestions forum and I'll look into it. I've checked the list of companies who are on the MS list and they're not offering at £49.99 anymore.

Was going to throw you links but after checking the two companies that still had them for £49, they arn't taking anymore orders it seems.

I successfully placed an order with one competitor at £49.99 this afternoon for 3 copies only to get a call 1hr later telling me they couldnt accept my order as they were out of stock...

I think that by the letter of the law they are obliged to sell at that price if they advertise at that price; they can't use the "out of stock" excuse, as they were never in stock. They ought to have taken down their advertisements for the £50 pre-orders as soon as their last one went, and if they have not done so, anybody who subsequently ordered for £50 should get it for £50.

Don't quote me on this, but if you want to kick up a fuss I reckon you could save yourself some cash.

I pre-odered Windows 7 yesterday (23rd) from a competitor for £49.99 :D sorry OCUK, it had to be done at that price.

EDIT: OK, so technically it was the day before yesterday, LOL

Unfortunately they can just use this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E&OE

It looks like I missed out on the "Cheap as chips" Windows 7 versions. I'm still not very sure whether I'm too bothered about upgrading. Vista is generally OK but Ultimate was a joke which MS don't seem bothered about addressing in any meaningful way.

I have a desktop on Vista Ultimate 64-bit, and an HTPC and laptop on 64-bit and 32-bit Vista HP respectively.

I'm thinking of upgrading the laptop to 7 Ultimate for Bitlocker, but I'm not sure what I'd gain by upgrading the others to be honest.

Are these pre-release versions both 32-bit and 64-bit?

The more computers I accumulate, the more expensive legitimate software upgrades become (all my software is legit BTW). It would be nice to see a Kaspersky-type (3 licence) version of the OS as multiple computers are becoming commonplace in more and more homes.

It comes down to when the contract between u is formed. This tends to be in this order:

1. u browse their website (invitation to treat)
2. u place an order (offer)
3. they send u a confirmation of ur request (counter offer)
4. they send confirmation of ur order (contract formed)

If u dont get to this last vital stage there is no contract and they can remove the sale at any time. Conflict comes if they have already taken payment or if no T&Cs are attached.

Well, my sister-in-law ordered the Win 7 HP this morning and got it for £49. Not sure how many places are still selling at this price but i have seen 2 so far.

Would you mind posting where in the OcUK Product Suggestions forum? I've checked again and can't find anywhere selling as low as that.

Hmm

Im guessing windows 7 comes with both 64bit and 32bit versions? Unlike Vista where you actually have to buy the 64bit if you wanted it.

Been away for a few weeks with work, i guess i missed out!
