At sub £300 the Xbox one will make a great under the telly box. I'm not interested in gaming on it really, but from a HTPC perspective it does interest me.
 
The introduction price of the ps3 was about £100 less and didn't come with a major peripheral like kineckt.

The pricing has not been announced yet but we are in line with competitors.

I honestly thought you guys might actually see this as good value.

Console for £600 - 8+ year life cycle.

High end VGA card - 6-12 month life cycle

Yet nobody on here blinks at dropping that sort of money on hardware.

Consoles are becoming a little more advanced. Did anyone actually expect the next gen consoles to be around £300?
 
Why not be sensible and offer a placeholder like others have done? People will obviously see this as a way to earn interest on their money sitting in OcUK's account (even though it probably isn't!). Hence the negativity...

Major peripheral? they are basically shoving it down your neck, its mandatory and its always listening and watching, you can't even turn it away because the xbox doesn't function if the kinect doesn't detect anyone....

The TV functionality doesn't even work in the UK.

Microsoft have basically took things WE CAN ALREADY DO, thrown it into one box and hoping to god that it competes with Apple. Microsoft arn't competing with sony anymore, they are competing with Apple in an attempt at controlling your living room, even when what is already available does it better.

Also dont charge that price, charge like a £20 reserve or something like loads of other places are doing for both the PS4 and Xbox One.
If your site can't do that, then meh.
I was personally expecting £399.99 as the price for the release console package.

To be honest, going by the performance figures Sony have released, I recon this generation of consoles could prove to be better value for money compared to PC's of equivelant value when you take into consideration the fact that the code of most videogame releases will be highly optimised for the hardware.

Consoles are far more convenient as well, there is no escaping that really.
 
I think people are missing the point.

You are buying the console. If the price is less, you get money back.

So your essentially paying the same as you would if you were going to pay the 20 quid place holder and then the rest later.

Sure in theory they could warn interest on your money but I suppose that's the price you pay for wanting the latest product ASAP!

Saying that, i hate consoles full stop, so I won't be partaking!
