*** Pre-season Friendlies Thread ***

I'd be a little surprised if we get much out of this game. The oppo are sticking the entire team behind the ball.

Powell misses a huge sitter. :o

That was on a par with the header Kagawa missed last game. Looking a bit more dynamic than we have done prior to this though. We are a little sloppy in places but this is pre-season and half the team won't even get a run out this season.

We're suffering a bit because Macheda isn't great as a lone striker. Powell looks energetic, fairly strong and likes to go forward as well as defend.

Keeps my hopes alive that he'll turn into the English version of Schweinsteiger. :p

Great save from Lindegaard there, 1v1 situation.

Is Paddy Crerand blind? He moans about every single offside/onside decision and he's almost always wrong.

"He was well offside there, it should have been given offside."

When the guy was about 3 yards onside...

They're just ridiculously biased being the MUTV commentators.

Kagawa is looking great on the ball, trouble is with them sitting so deep it's hard to get it to him in dangerous areas. Powell's done ok so far, should have scored though.

Are you guys actually basing anything on these games? I mean, I don't think they tell you anything meaningful about the players on show... but it seems some of you do.

Nope, just watching out of curiosity really.

It's a shame that Shanghai are just sitting deep defending and not doing much else.

Based on the fact that there are maybe 3-4 first team players in the team....... probably not. Its nice to see how the new signings and youngsters are doing though.

Am I drunk or has Bebe actually looked alright / not a complete waste of space?

Kagawa goal, good set up by Bebe.

Bebe seems like he's actually got some confidence now.

I can kind of see why we bought him but we need to see a lot more of him against better opposition to make any judgement. He's quick and powerful but those are the qualities that can be completely irrelevant if you don't convert that into chances.

Bebe does look quite good in this game. Get's into good goal scoring positions, has an alright shot on him too. This is Shanghai's 2nd string team though so no idea how he fares against a proper team.
