I guess it's more of a team affair with Gill doing the money stuff and Fergie talking about where he see's the potential signing fitting in and all that kind of stuff
 
well didnt he pick up berba and drive him to carrington when we got him.I expect players like van persie would want to speak to the main man befor signing
 
I thought gill just sorts contracts out and club finances,fergie will be the one that speaks to the players to sell the club to them.I have watched a few interviews with players fergie has signed and they always say he is there and sort of gives them reassurances about why he wants to sign them.I guess its good man management to be involved that much into player signings shows that you want them to join your team.
 
I'm sure I read once that Ferguson likes to stay hands off with the signings, leaving it all to Gill and co. Obviously that would change towards the very end of the process (or earlier if it was someone we were really after).
 
i don't know if fergie can actually go and meet up with a player under contract surely that's like tapping a player up? but i am sure he could meet with another manager and discuss business
