Premier League Fixtures - 16/17th August (Spoilers)

Looking at stats arsenal had like 13 home games and 4 away games on the first day of the season wish spurs could start the season at home for once
is it done random or what?

Skip90 going by the first game sunderland is a must win lol chelsea next away game :(

Why does the ref get to show cards, use a whistle, give decisions? Maybe because he is in charge of the game?

But you'd respect someone who gets paid to be down the middle and get decisions right when they continue to get obvious decisions wrong? Rubbish.

I don't see a lot of respect from your fans for Smith, yet he goes out there and fights for Newcastle every time he plays. He makes a few mistakes and you're allowed to stamp all over him? He's a professional the same as the referee.

You try playing on a pitch in a heated atmosphere infront of your fans, running and working hard for your team, you are gonna be passionate.

You clearly belong on the FA panel of people who blindly back referee's and try to take the passion out of the game.

Okay, I'll simplify this for you.

Player A does nothing wrong.
Player A gets penalised by Referee for an obviously poor call.
Referee A tells the player he was wrong and books him.
Player A tells the referee he was wrong.

Why is player A in the wrong? Both are professionals. Why is the referee blameless but the player is always guilty?

It's hard to respect someone who gets so many decisions wrong. If I was a player I would find it very hard to respect someone who kept getting calls against me wrong.

Yes, some players go overboard, but most don't.
It's wrong because you have to accept the decision, regardless of whether or not you agree with it. I know it can be hard, but until players/fans realise that it's 100% certain that refs will make mistakes, we're never going to get anywhere.

I've seen plenty of shocking decisions, and had plenty given against teams I've played for, and it can be very hard to take (especially when you know for sure he got it wrong). I just think now we're at the point where the FA has to make the stand, it's time to stfu and accept the refs are human and cannot get every decision right.

Some wrong decisions will be minor, but some are going to be game changing decisions. Unless we're going to call into question the integrity of the ref, people need to realise they are doing their best (and as much as any single person on the pitch could do).

If anything people should blame the system of having a single ref on the pitch, because it's pointless blaming the man on the field, they're as good as they're ever going to get.

Stop putting words into my mouth. I never advocated booing and of my own team's players. I think referees should be reprimanded but, no, not by players. Passion is no excuse for disrespecting a referee (I always hear this excuse) try watching a rugby league match and see what happens when a referee is disrespected (if it happens at all).

Rafa, where art thou wingers? :(

Indeed, you have absolutely ZERO width and you've been caught out a few times, had Sunderland whipped crosses in quicker you'd be in trouble. Against better sides you'd be behind already, it's something that needs sorting because at the moment Sunderland have you contained quite nicely.

We looked like we lacked so much confidence in the first half. It was only during the last 10 mins did we look anything sort of normal.

Hopefully we will dictate the game more second half. I'd just like to see Alonso brought on for Plessis. Although he's OK at what he does, he still has much to learn. Hopefully Alonso will let Gerrard push forward a bit mroe for Keane and Torres to work off of.

Everyone can see Liverpool need more width, so god knows why Benitez has yet to address it.

If reports are believed then Benitez's decision not to go for natural wingers is down to there being very few top standard wingers around atm and of those only a couple are realistic targets and also very expensive.

Interestingly Quaresma gave an interview earlier in the summer where he said that we turned down the chance to sign him. He said our representitives spoke with him and explained how he'd be asked to play (i'd imagine we said he'd have to play with more discipline etc), which he wasn't happy with so we pulled out of the deal.

right where are those idiot spurs 'ITK' fans ?
