Suprisingly, our best player was Giggs before he went off. Rooney is well short of match fitness, not sharp at all. Scholes had a lot of covering to do when Carrick went off.

Can't argue with the point at all and Fair play to Newcastle, they came to attack (albeit not all game) and played good football

What a terrible diver, that Newcastle player - Gutierrez.

Yeah, but he'll get better if he pays attention to Ronaldo.

He didn't go rolling on the ground, he just got up and got on with it. The Vidic one was a foul.

I don't critisise players for trying to get a penalty as that's the nature of the game these days, but he didn't whinge when it wasn't given, he just got on with it.

I was at the Chelsea game and I thought we (Chelsea) played bloody well. Really good to see us passing it around a bit better and attacking better as well.

Deco looked good, willing to get stuck in and make some tackles but some of his passing was off a bit. Bosingwa looked really solid at the back and pretty handy going forward, finally I am confident in our Right Back :)

Anelka had a bit of a poor game, he could have had 2 or 3 in the end but he got 1 so I can't complain.

Good game :)

Loving the way giggs is playing this season, last season started slowing down and becoming rubbish, looking to get back into his old form again, with a bit of pace and the skills:)

Class!

What a result, who expected that really?!

Really happy with the debuts today they were really really good. Guthrie seemed pretty good and that Jonas was superb, I hope he emulates that sort of form consistently.

Great start to the season, but its only a start

and Carrick and Anderson and Nani and Hargreaves and Park and Tevez....

Boo hoo. Let's get the violins out.

Ronaldo has much more of an impact on the attacking side of United's game than those players and anyone in their right mind knows it.

The team looked poor without him today, not the others.

couple of good signings in Gutierrez and Coloccini, especially the former he looks like a player who will thrive in the EPL.

assuming no major injuries which usually happens to newcastle they could surprise a few ppl this year, looked a lot more like a keegan team today than last season.

just like the arsenal yesterday utd looked avg on the whole....sure they missed some players but boy do they look different without ronaldo and a fit rooney.

Nani and Park don't usually play (Park definitley) and you can only play two out of Carrick, Anderson and Hargreaves. It's not like Man U were missing half a team.

Not necessarily - as Hargreaves has played on the wing previosly

We effectively were missing half the team (certainly from an attacking point of view)

Well played to Newcastle - the first game being a draw (and two subsequant losses) didnt exactly do us any harm last season

Man U are an incredibly wealthy and successful club. To be whinging that a few 1st team players are out is pathetic. Did Ferguson really think that he could go so long without backing up his squad?

You have the money to strengthen the rest of the squad but chose not to do so.

You can't just buy a thousand backups though, should every team have 5 good goalies just in case they all happen to be injured at the same time? We have a deep squad (well except for attackers) but we just happen to have a LOT of players out at the moment

It's not so much that you don't have backups, but that you expect your backups to be world class whilst spending the minimum amount of cash. IMO, Newcastle are the sole reason for Man U needing to settle for a draw.
