Premier League Manager of the Season 2010/2011

Ever since Stoke have been promoted they were written off from the first match of the season.

For a newly promoted team to stay in the Premier league for 4 Seasons has to earn some kind of accolade. How many newly promoted teams are sent back down after the first two seasons

Poppycock.

For the last two seasons I don't think I don't remember seeing anybody 'writing off' Stoke in terms of relegation at the start of the season, obviously there may have been one or two, but if you look at bookies odds, major media previous, even fan forum posts etc you will find that the majority haven't tipped Stoke to go down.

Yes the first season they went up, maybe even the one after I'm sure there were some but as you've pointed out yourself that is just par for the course, when a new team comes up for a couple of years they will be considered candidates for relegation in the modern game. That's nothing Stoke need to get worked up about it is just a fact that all clubs will get based on statistics.

Clubs get promoted and some of them establish themselves. If we gave out accolades for staying in the league 4 seasons after promotion we'd have to dish them out to all sorts of teams... Sunderland, Blackburn, Man City, Wigan, Bolton, West Ham, Fulham etc etc etc

Why not Mancini?

Considering what he has had to put up with all the bust ups and fall outs in his squad and the fact he has now won a cup for the club after 35 years. That has to mean something.

Mancini? Not quite. Maybe for tolerating a bunch of whiny babies for so long?

Manchester City is the most expensive team in the league and they ended up in fourth place. Hardly manager of the season worthy.

If Woy hadn't had made such a mess of things at Liverpool I would have said him, not sure if Pulis does it for me, even considering their cup run as they didn't face any big guns till the final. Don't think I can look past what Kenny has done at Liverpool, took a team that was toiling above the relagation zone and might even end up qualifying for Europe.

heh,

can't really think of a standout over the course of the season. As such I'll submit to bias and say give it to Sir Alex, won it with what many think is a relatively weak squad.

Relatively weak squad in comparision to previous years rather than this years opposition.

still, over the course of an entire season, no manager really stands out for me to say 'he's done better than the one who won it given the resources at his disposal' so I think the choice could be easily justified.
