Premium Bonds - If you post to say how much you've won, please also say how much you have invested.

I've had diddly squat for the past 3 months. At current interest rates I'd be earning about £40 a month post tax in a savings account.

I've just bought some more to max it out so I'll give it another month before pulling it all out I reckon.

I won 2 x £25, same as last month.

Did you buy more before the start of the month? If not they won't be in December's draw.

I've just seen this graph in an email from MSE.

It looks like it's worth topping up family/kids accounts to >£1.4k before a personal account already on a higher balance.

Rate of pay out does not change at £1.4k it's just that's the point you are more likely or not to win £25 after a year invested......

For example at a interest rate of 2% on £1000 invested you would get £20, it's just the rate on premium bonds is not guaranteed and minimum payout is £25....that chart really is not very helpful/clear....

I think it's a joke or I'm exceptionally unlucky. I've had 30k in PB for years and never won more than 300 quid in any given year. This year thus far - £75.
How many years? From 2009 until 2022 the interest rate was pathetic between 1-1.3% mostly. So £300 was 1% of £30k, about the expected return.

How much invested?

This is the thing. Looking at the high interest savings accounts now with 5% it's probably not returning as much as one of these savings accounts

Just under about half of what you can hold

I need to check the high interest accounts..I dont think you can just move a big lump sum in can you? Usually a max of £200 or £400 per month with a limit you can hold in there and which is lower

Barclays Rainy Day let you put in £5k max for 5%. so £5k at 5% get you like £20 a month.

I haven't looked deeper into other instant access savings account, I have a Chase one at 2.05%, and recently opened a Santander at 2.7%.
