2K Games have announced Prey has gone gold today, with the official launch occuring on July 14th.

New York, NY – June 28, 2006 – 2K, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), and 3D Realms today announced the first-person shooter Prey has gone to gold master and will be available in North America on July 11th and in Europe on July 14th. Developed by Human Head Studios under the direct supervision of 3D Realms, Prey will be available for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC in both a regular edition and a Limited Collector's Edition. The demo for the PC version of Prey is currently available for download, with an Xbox 360 demo available soon.

An excellent demo I must say.

(tried it on my laptop (dothan 1.6 / 9700pro mobile) and on my pc (X2 3800+ @2.6 / 6800U) and also on my 360 and it plays great on all platforms)

I must say the engine is extremely well optimized (my laptop above is running it fine at high settings (some medium) and some AA and AF.

I do like the gravity walkways and the spirit walk you can do.

As a direct comparison for anyone interested in the differences between the PC version and the 360 version is that basically there are none. Graphics are identical ( my pc used as comparison) albeit the 360 is lacking AF.

A definate purchase for me albeit on the 360 for the live features.

It would seem that its available from the jersey based place - at least thats what their site is saying ? ... i pre-ordered so am hoping it'll be on its way soon

Tried it recently too and found it surprisingly good, i liked the crazy gravity and funny portals you can see yourself and run in circles through, multiplayer was quite wacky at first but you actually do get sort of used to it after a while, good stuff.

The only thing i would have liked to be a bit different was the start, it would be nice to have a better and longer build up to the alien invasion, maybe going outside in the streets would have been fun, i think the whole weird cramped space station thing is getting a bit old but they managed to make it fun again.
