Prince Phillip

He's 99, one of these days he wont roll out of that place.

I'm sure royalists and the actual royal family will be upset but my, rather selfishly, main concern is how many days off of work will we get, if any?

Even at this age she isn't as fragile as that IMO.

I could see her stepping down however afterwards - though it might not be her thoughts and intentions now.
She will do the UK a great service and out live Charles, even if it means living to 130.

The Queen is only the Queen because her uncle didn't fancy the job. I don't know why but that fascinates me.

If he didn't abdicate would Diana be alive now i wonder.

Charles would have probably married Camilla as his first wife....

We'd have never even heard of Diana.

I thought the thread bump was going to be because he had died!

Charles's dash to see his father looked serious and apparently there was a discussion of what the future would be... also he looked a bit emotional afterwards. He probably knows something we don't. Also my step mother died at the weekend so feeling a bit fragile myself at the moment.

Despite everything I do feel a bit sorry/sad for the queen. This is a terrible situation for old couples or any age couple when they are about to lose their partner of the last many decades.

Sad times for her.

"sad times for her" - On the other hand - we have no idea what their relationship is like.

It quite possibly has been a marriage of convieniance for decades. Common knowledge in his earlier years he had more women than state banquets.

The idea that they are a normal married couple is far from the truth - they seem to have led pretty much separate lives apart from when needed to perform as a couple for the "day job"

When at Sandringham during Lockdown recently she was in the main house and he lived in a cottage some distance away.

They might hate each others guts for all we know. Divorce was never an option for them, unlike all their kids.

While that may be the truth. Losing someone through death is different to them just leaving your life.

"Nothing Serious, walked in to hospital"
"It was an Infection"
"Successful surgery on a pre-existing Heart Condition"

It's almost like the palace lie to everybody constantly... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-56278445

Or, it was an infection, and on further investigations during his recovery it was realised he needed an operation on a heart condition. It's not that farfetched.
