Priti Stick.

Civil service should just take industrial action now, especially as Austerity 2.0 has just been announced with pay freezes accross the public sector, literally tools down and watch the government and country go to hell in a hand basket.
Surely the private sector would just pick up the slack and do everything 1000x times better?

(This is what Tories actually believe...)

nah, they would just contract out to their eton mates for 1000x the cost and half the productivity, that's what they mean by giving stuff to the private sector. The "real" private sector, you wouldn't get away with the **** that the "tory contract" private sector is able to pull off.

And then be amazed that the private sector they've contracted out costs more despite paying the staff less and using zero hours contracts, whilst being far worse at the job (because they don't train the staff/keep the staff long enough to learn anything).

My sister works in the Civil Service and is very 'does not suffer fools gladly' when it comes to work and getting stuff done. She cannot believe how utterly pathetic so many of the uni-educated people in her department are when it comes to not being able to take criticism or throwing tantrums over not getting their way with trivial things, it's like they're stuck in perpetual Kevin-esque adolescence, with many of them only caring about moving across and up in the CS rather than actually doing a good job (which isn't surprising when you look at the salary levels).

I know quite a few civil service folk, and while a decent amount are actually competent - an absolute ****** load are complete windowlickers.
There really is a lot of muppets in the CS - MPS included.
As for the vampire, well who knows...

The private sector is going to go the same way eventually due to recruiting practices that discriminate against those who are the best qualified in favour of diversity requirements.

Do you think that’s how Patel got the job?

She certainly isn’t there on competence.

I just had to do some training for a CS role all about bullying and how to deal with it. If she behaved like that then the training says she should have been challenged (active bystander).

I wonder how many of these Tories backing her were at the front of the line screaming for Bercow's head when he was on the block for alleged bullying. Double standards much...................

Does anyone get sacked from the civil service? I understood that you got moved.

I know of 6 people that have been sacked in the last 3 years for various reasons. They are not missed.

It takes a while to build a case to get rid of someone but sometimes they just hand it over on a plate.

She has had to impose her will on a department known for its inability to change in order to get a bill prepared in time for brexit. A contentious bill no doubt, overturning 40 years of free movement between the UK and the rest of Europe. On the negative side she is a woman, not very physically imposing and she had to stand up to the home office mandarins and senior civil servants who i am sure were resistant to a few of her ideas. I am not surprised really if the language was robust at times and the required workload heavy. Some people were always bound to complain.

My lingering memory of her is in that pre-referendum era as being ‘shady as ****’. She was coming out with some absolute Trump-esque codswallop back then, BoJo was too tbf.

We really haven’t seen much of her over the past few months.
