Private plates?

I don't see the point in them to tbh, though number plates with words like HAX or PWN in them make me laugh :D

Really? Thats pretty impressive. Mine was a gift so my budget wasn't enormous hence I ended up with A9 ABC.

For me the appeal is getting as few digits as possible, looks neat, clean and finishes a car off nicely.

Same, got it for my 21st.

edit - I mean A7 ABC

No problem with them at all (would be a hypocrite if I did!) but they need to be on legal plates and properly spaced!

Hate the mis-spaced/screws in odd places look.

WO07 LOL is only £900

alternatively

PO05 YUM is £179

MU57 BAN for the dons is £500, or maybe
MU57 WEE for the same
LO57 ALL for a touch of irony at £700

the possibilities are endless

Mostly I think they are for people that want to make the car look newer or hide the age of their 5 year old A4 or BMW.

Not something I've ever been interested in.

I bought M2NXY for £250 a few years back which was on the astra, unfortunately it is now on retention due to a company car.

I've seen a plate that I'm interested in on a few of these websites that sell them, in the format of ABC 12D, for a very low price of about ~£250, which I thought quite cheap for a plate of this format? Anyone know anything about this format and costs of purchasing them usually are?

A little bit of research shows this to just be a suffix plate and came come in three formats, (AAA 1A, AAA 11A and AAA 111A). Any idea on how much a standard suffix plate in the format AAA 11A usually costs, that doesn't spell anything in particular?

Suffix plates, if sold at the DVLA always go to auction. If it's one that hasn't been issued you have to harass the DVLA to put it into auction.

I did this, took me 4 years for them to put PWN3D into auction, then some other bugger outbid me.

it's a lucky escape really, if you ever crashed the car you'd feel a right plank :)

I'm annoyed at personalised plates for my own reasons - I don't have a middle name, so I only have two initials. And plates with only 2 letters + a number are gonna be VERY expensive!

Ditto, and when your first initial is an "I", it's nearly impossible!

Since the mid 90's I'd always fancied getting hold of P155 OFF :D, but have never had a car worthy of putting it on.
