Pro Cycling Discussion 2019

Think it killed him 2 days ago. But fair play for holding on. Good little finish today proper cat and mouse. Well except from quintana who is so dull to watch nowadays. All he does is sit on and sit on.

Now to watch bruges de panne.

Fast forwarded through nothing happened until 10km to go. Groenewegan is an absolute animal. Making all the other sprinters look stupid similar to how cav used to back in the day!

Nairo is the worst "racer" to watch. Absolute knob.
In San Juan he let a wheel go in the race winning move and screwed things up for Tiesj Benoot. Then yesterday exactly the same. Willing to do absolutely no work (not even for himself) and just leads to frustration from riders and spectators.... I could understand if it was his tactic to annoy the rest of them and then pounce. But it seems he sits on and annoys everyone to only then have nothing to show for it and it just cancels out the racing.

Dan Martin is the polar opposite. Dude is genuinely a hero of mine.

I said after the Giro in 2017 that Quintana wouldn't win a GT again to a mate of mine and he laughed, but it's definitely never going to happen unless something big happens, and to do that he'd need to move teams and get back his explosivity, as well as learning how to TT at the level everyone else is doing. You can see the difference in people like the Yates' that have clearly spent some time on position and although they're never going to be winning, they're not hemorrhaging time like they used to which was killing their GC hopes on the 3 week GT's.

Was another cracking race and glad Deceuninck didn't win! Really surprised Kristoff had the legs after sitting in the gap for so long with only 30-40km left trying to get to the front group. Those numbers are insane!

So caught up with all the classics now I'm back, TdY was quite fun especially with the horrendous weather! Good last day with the terrain keeping a big enough group to allow attacks of substance.

Giro starts on Saturday! Just trying to work out who is in the battle to win it, looks like 3 or 4 main guys, Dumoulin, Yates, Nibali, Roglic, any one else, I've seen Bernal has broken his collarbone so won't be able to contest for his first GT. Always a good race to watch especially with the early in the year Alps weather!

Absolutely stunning time from Roglic in the TT yesterday. Great rides from Yates and nibali to beat dumoulin. Going to be a good race with the huge back loading of the stages. Will definitely be a race of attrition!

Sort of harsh on Viviani to lose that stage but can see why. Roglic/Jumbo Visma look like their struggling a bit in the pack, probably can't wait to get the sprints out of the way and some safety.

Absolute carnage on today's stage. Bad timings for the crashes for a number of riders. Roglic seemed to have got his head around being the leader sorted quickly. Was in the right place today and avoided everything. He's got to be happy Dumoulin is out.

Good attack from carapaz, I did think ewan was going to come back but line came just too soon.

It was over 2 days after things happened. Not my fault you're so behind!

10 mins of highlights on eurosport is probably better than their woeful attempt every evening.

Finally the sprints are over. Although last 2 have been fairly good competitive run ins! Who has the legs tomorrow! I foresee Yates aiming to get some of that time back with Roglic focusing on nibali primarily. Hopefully the action will be a bit more spicy.

Great finish yesterday!
so so close to being caught, love it when the peloton misses out by so little!

Big 2 days ahead, will Roglic hold on or will he be bullied today by the Movistar 1-2 and Nibali? Wonder how much time he expects to need in the TT, either way looks like he'll be making up something but he needs to take something back today or tomorrow to have a chance. Think today may be fairly reserved compared to the multiple peaks tomorrow.

Anti climax in the end today. Great start to the day then all died a death until Lopez thought he was Anthony joshua late on. Don't think much will change tomorrow but you never know.

Heads up. It's the hammer series tomorrow through to Sunday. Looks like you can watch on Facebook. It was a great spectator even last time so might be worth a watch again.

Having come off before in a heavy wind on my tt bike, sometimes there is almost nothing you can do if you're very unlucky.

I hit a bump at a crossroad at about 30mph while warming up and the crosswind just took my wheel away as I slid 20 yards down the road.

Either way! Great win for WvA yesterday! To take some big scalps was impressive, as was Adam Yates' time to get the yellow.

I see Movistar and Quintana have spent absolutely nothing once again on tunnel testing to save him as much time as possible in TT's and so unless he outclimbs everybody significantly he won't be beating anyone this Tour.
