Pro Cycling Discussion 2019

Lutsenko has good form after winning in the desert but perhaps doesn’t have the sprint to beat the others there. He was pulling alright. The other two guys I felt just holding on and they only had one kick each.

That wind made it interesting today. Great tide from jungels attacked at the right time as that group lost all energy. Did not expect to see him finish it off though. Chasing peloton looked exhausted throughout except the qs boys doing exactly what they needed to do!

I had Wellens EW for Omloop so made £16 :)
I then lost £2 of that yesterday at KBK by putting it on Trentin.... who made me rage with his car bumper surfing, roundabout cutting and then sitting up in a huff.

Jungels was crazy strong yesterday and I was seriously impressed with Doull to be honest. I've never taken to him at all really but that yesterday was a superb ride. I hope he's found his thing and I bet Sky are thinking that as well because they need Classics men. He sure looked the part yesterday!

I don't think Betway (who I use) will have anything for Le Samyn. Niki Terpstra looked strong yesterday on good form so if anything I will put £2 on him for the win.

Strade is the tough one. Start lists still ropey for it despite it only being a few days away. I'd back Tiesj as he is on good form but after his off at Omloop he is an unknown now. Valverde EW might be a safe shout but depending on odds I think Wellens might be another good shout EW on good odds. Strade has to be one of the absolute hardest to bet on during Spring. Pure guessing.

Good to see Mr tanfield on the start list.
Harrys Omloop & KBK. Steep learning curve for him but seems to be taking it in his stride so far!

Oss looked like he was only mouth breathing today. Maybe riding into top form to help Sagan at Roubaix, he was only dropped on the super steep cobbles.
Oss' ride. To be fair when he was dropped he really didn't seem bothered - didn't seem like he run out of gas a huge amount, or certainly recovered well to do some work behind. Machine!

Summary stat's from Owain Doull's ride on Sunday. He didn't half go wide at the start of the finish straight, I thought he was heading straight for the beer tent once he realised Jungles was too far away to catch.

He was great on saturday too! Good to actually get some results from him as he's promised much before but not delivered that much out on the road...

I'd back Tiesj as he is on good form but after his off at Omloop he is an unknown now.
Was gutted when he went down! Looked a bit scetchy on that corner to be fair as they all went hard into that drain to launch around the corner didn't they, but only Benoot came down?! Wellens did well considering he'd done some good work for Benoot before but GVA was in a class of his own. Really think he should've won that, but when he couldn't crack them on the Muur he should've just sat on Stybar as the way Stybar was able to follow everything then he was obviously the strongest and biggest threat.

Rides: GVA - Lutsenko - Benoot

EW's on Stybar & Wellens for Strade tomorrow.
Hard to see QS not have a man win/top 3 as they are just outrageous. Stybar is man of the moment.
Alaphilippe is the dark horse because on distance terms Strade is not "monument" sort of length which will play to him as do the last 50km's where the racing kicks off and the climbs are exactly what he is superb at. That's where Tiesj becomes an unknown after the crash. If he's 100% he can win it again. Absolutely.

No rain though :(

Anyone watching Paris nice? First 2 days are echelon tastic. Great viewing worth watching on catch up if you get a chance.

Absolutely superb it has been.
I was explaining echelons to the girlfriend last night and how brutal they are. I was telling her skinny climbers struggle big time then had to explain why Egan Bernal was leading out the sprint.....
"that wee man is 60kg. He's some sort of watt wizard"

Here is Luke Rowe testing the wind direction with the ole finger in the air. Immediately as panic sets in and everyone chucks it in the gutter :D

My Fiancee understands how they work quite well, she says out of all the sport I watch she prefers cycling the most. (loon) She can just never remember what they're called when I ask her everytime the spring classics start what they're called.

Yesterdays stage was even better than the first one! More of the same today.

Love that - Rowe has been wrecking the peleton this week

May buy the eurposport deal just to have it on in the background at work, usually work something out to watch the TdF but these races are arguably better watching.

Echelons are cool until your the last guy having to ride on the white line/cat eyes with traffic coming. :o

Much safer being the guy sticking it in the gutter :D

Tried it again today just not quite enough road to pull it off.

Kwiat with a 30 second dig that absolutely blew the legs off the majority of the peloton :D Love that guy.
Sky never really associated with spring classics but lets think about it..... Rowe, Kwiat, Stannard, Doull, Van Baarle. That is silly silly! :D
