Pro Cycling Discussion 2020

Remco barely even "attacked".... he just rode away from them! Boy is insane.

Yep, just put them behind him so easily.another sprint today and then monster uphill tomorrow! Oh and Strade Bianche!!! :D :D

Route d'Occitane looks like it has a good line up and may be worth watching too.

Not yet, but I will do, mostly for the CX which was previously free to view on youtube. Think most of the racing is all just Eurosport stream in one way shape or form.

Unlikely anyone will admit to going poorly and not looking forward to the race.

“the sensations are good and the road will decide” etc!

I picked Stybar and Simon Clarke in a game I’m in with some mates. I don’t think either will win, but both top ten or 5 on a good day & I’ll play the long game ;)

Went in to work on my day off to do a friends bike whilst catching the race, eurosport on the tv wouldn't work at all or phone app. Got it on the laptop but quality not as good.

Didn't have each way on Schachmann as it was only the £1 free bet on ladbrokes.

That was insane.
I watched Kwiato get dropped. And subsequently my fiver (and Jonny's tenner!) :p

But even by then Ala was dropped and in a world of pain as was MvdP and Sagan.

I can't recall ever seeing a final selection so early and full of absolutely ruined men dogging it out like that. A combination of lack of racing plus ridiculous heat led to one of the best races of recent memory.

£20! Went each way haha.

I missed most of it because the app wouldn't work then when I had it on the laptop I was out front booking in a bike.

Door locked for the next big race.

Oh I missed racing and it was a cracking one. I like this guesswork over who has form after the break. Remco to win the Giro?! And Pog for the Tour?! Kids these days

Bettiol surprise me, proved he wasn’t just a fluke last year maybe, obviously something clicked and maybe see him towards the front of a few this season.

Rim brakes 1-2 trollolol.

It’s hard to track who can race which races and where.

Colbrelli took a handy win today in France, he’d be an outside bet for MSR normally, if his forms good then maybe perform better than that this year if he can ride.

Tour of Poland spoiler:
 Just been a massive crash during the sprint finish of the Tour of Poland. Dylan Groenewegen had Fabio Jacobson (sp?) inside him and shut the door (at first glance) - Jacobson goes into the barriers at some speed. Barriers and bikes get launched over the road. Groenewegen ends up on the floor after the finish and another rides goes over him before stacking. All very nasty.

Looked on purpose to me, Groenewegen forces him into the barriers and sticks his elbow out. Looks far more intentional than the Sagan Cav come together. Jacobson is in a coma fighting for his life apparently

Groenewegen will need to live with the fact he done this to another person for the rest of his life.
Which is a harsh punishment itself. He obviously had no intent on doing that! But at same time, he needs to be removed from the sport for a long time or completely for that. It's the perfect example of why you hold your line in a sprint..... the elbow for good measure clarifies the intent to block/impede and is disgraceful.

Plenty blame being thrown at organisers/barriers/the finish. There is no disputing those could have been better and different. But there are hundreds of finishes like that every year across pro cycling and they are absolutely not the cause or reason for that crash. One man caused that to happen through his actions. It could happen anywhere between competitors if they choose wild actions like that so they absolutely need to come down hard and ensure people with other peoples lives in their hands do not act in such a way ever again.
