Pro Cycling Discussion 2021

You know it's a bad time when he's mashing solids with 5.5KM to go to the line :p
Rog - what goes round comes around. Brutal. I'm trying to find anyone with sympathy to give him and so far it has gone as expected :)

HAHA yeah, he just had nothing I was glad he didn't get pipped but for Pogacar to close that gap was bloody impressive too!

Yep, my missus was sort of watching the ITV4 highlights with me and said he deserves that after yesterday! Don't know how he managed to come down twice on a day like that though!

I missed whatever happened the previous day... what did Roglic do?

I find Pog's hair sticking through the helmet quite funny. Like a fin!

Went past a guy who'd been out on his own for 10km with about 25m to go even though he was miles ahead of everyone else in GC apart from Schachman who he had 40s plus on anyway and was going to gain some time at the line. Then gave a comment that with his racing there are no gifts. was funny seeing Mader attacking and pushing on the front yesterday too.

Bonus seconds on the line?

Don’t see a problem with it. Racing is racing. Happens all the time with breaks being “managed” and caught with 10km to go, just this time it was closer than that.

Cycling needs to drop the antiquated garbage it carries around.

Roglic has an obligation to sponsors to perform and achieve the best results/exposure as possible. He’s gracious in defeat which also comes across very well.

Its what I actually like about cycling, the spirit of fair play (yeah I know, doping etc) like not attacking the yellow jersey when they are having a mechanical or like the other day, letting Roglic get back on after he crashed the first time.

I think letting leaders back on after a mechanical is one thing but if you stop every time they crash on a descent then you might as well just neutralise them. It’s a key skill for a GC rider.

Yeah that is true. I guess while the peloton is just cruising along I dont see much issue with it but once the race is on then of course, leave them behind like they did with Roglic after the second time he crashed.

In a world where there is so much dirty play and cheating, I like to see a bit of fair play every now and then

GCN+ has been worth its money alone and its not even 1/4 of the season yet :)

I still don't like Pog though :)

INEOS must be disappointed at the moment unless they are focusing on the tour de boring again.

Ahhhh screaming for ewan as had a couple of quid on him, incredible climb from him and matthews. Good to see something different at San remo today. Was attacks at the top, on the descent and on the flat! Just didn't know if that attack would survive, probably shouldn't have if that group wasn't quite so big!

Madness how a group messing about allows a guy to ping off the front and win it.

An extra 50 yards and WvA would have had it.

Ewan should have went earlier and rolled the dice.

Great to see pidcock up there again in that front group. Telling that wva was marking his attacks each time.
I didn't think he'd be showing up in the front group at the end so soon, given the major jump in distance from the recent 'cross season. When Evenepoel's recovered, that's another one to add to the mix too.
