Pro Cycling Discussion 2021

Just reading the Cycling Tips article on this - one French paper says cancelled, L'Equipe says no decision until next week. You'd assume more likely than not to be cancelled though (unless I'm out of date and it's definitely off!).

Definitely off! For now. Real shame, have to settle for flanders etc for now, might mean we get a wet roubaix at last.

Although some reports saying not 100% canned yet... Madness.

Good effort by kamna today at Volta Catalunya, and great to see chaves up there again, but think ineos looked supremely comfy and statement of intent with the top 3 in gc. Pretty dull final effort really with ineos train on the front.

Hahaha yeah, it's an oh we'll be exciting when we're on the back foot but when we're dominating we'll just boss the front and occasionally let someone attack if everyone else is looking weak and we can mark any main competitors behind.

Good to see Yates looking nice and strong though, still don't think he's capable of 3 weeks at the front but if they can give him week stage races to win.

Hope e3 has some big wind today and its not just a procession.

If they don’t have the strongest guy ie Pog or Rog then they will have to up their tactics rather than just giving them a tow to the last 3km and then their GC leader being left for dust.

Speaking of that. Whose going to be the GC leader at Ineos for the tour. All of them?

I think you are seeing Le Tour leader tryouts right now.
Their train looks way beyond the Jumbo train right now. It's not all so much about a leader now it's having 3-4 Sepp Kuss or Rohan Dennis on your trains. INEOS is looking best right now and G, Yates, Carapaz will step up for leader and all underhand tactics will be involved in communicating who the leader is. It's very clever.

Jumbo missing WvA from their mountain trains at moment but INEOS missing Kwiato. 2 big players who will change some dynamics on the mountain trains..... My only opinion on it is that at least we will have two dominating trains on high mountains duking it rather than just one. So should be a bit better to watch hopefully.

Same thoughts here, Ineos looking super strong through the ranks, Wouldn't say Jumbo are far off, Bennett is looking really strong, if WvA can rest and then peak again he's a great lieutenant, Kuss and Vindergard have both been up there in separate races, but then Roglic wasn't as well supported as I'd have expected on the days before he crashed, especially with the relative strength of the field, shame that Porte and Geogehan Hart crashed out early to see how they would have compared properly, but also a long time until TdF.

Looking forward to Sundays Volta stage looking at those laps around Barcelona, should be attacks left right and centre on that circuit, think the 2019 race had a bit of rain in the mix so made it even more entertaining.

And we all saw how important your team was to make sure you win last year ;) Ineos and Jumbo won’t make that mistake again, but they can’t just watch each other, plenty of other teams with podium potential.

Nice to see Tom Dumoulin has been riding again after it looking as if he might quit.

Anyone see on GCN how AG2R missed the front? Eurosport didn’t start until 70k to go.

GVA and Naeson got leaned on by everyone and barely any help with the chase.

I thought INEOS might have helped contribute and FDJ earlier on. Getting Demare up front would be better than Kung.

Just missed the attack, nothing complex really, echelons were formed with 100k to go and they were second group and never made it up.

He's single handed more lethal and more of a threat to rider safety than super tucking or fake aero-barring.
Get him to **** IMO. Ban him for the entire season this year, let him come back in 2022 if he promises to stop being a ****.

He's a disgrace and should be banned by UCI with the amount of times he has done stuff now there is literally no excuse to have him riding. he hasn't been punished enough in the past and thinks he can do what he want, despite him being at best an average sprinter. His only saving grace is he is french and rides about 90% of his life in France so gets away with this stuff.

Some win that for van baarle today,50k out on his own,big old group behind just not cohesive and gap crept up and up. Ineos looked strong all day, funny seeing pidcock question if he had won at the finish line! Wonder if mvdp had a bit of illness as he didn't look good at the end.
