Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

I'll just be rooting for Simon Yates to get a top 10 GC/young rider's classification ;)

Either Yates will do for me!

I've got Talansky at 400:1 e/w.
Bit of an outsider but he's a fairly good TTer.

EW paying top 3 places? that's a stretch for me - you need two of the big four to come off and Bardet and Pinot not to fire again. Plus how does TTing help with this years course?

PS I get my betting tips from cyclingbetting.co.uk - the guy was incredibly accurate at the Dauphine. You have to pay for his GT tips but I think it's worth it ;)

sometimes I am not very nice

We're all well aware of that in here but we love tolerate you.

Just the prologue, not GC. Still a stretch though (hence the long odds, I suppose :p).

Of the big four I rank them...

1: Contador - Best all rounder but maybe form unknown from Giro, my favourite.
2= Nibali - possibly weakest in mountains but most aggressive and best on cobbles.
2= Quintana - best climber, good on cobbles, best team, least experience.
4: Froome - spat his dummy last year on the route, weakest descending and can't think outside the box when racing. Good form and hill strength.

Outside the box, Valverde or TJV... Valverde can't quite hold on in the big hills now, I think TJV may go top 3 if the others crash out or lose time early on.

Nibali is my fave in terms of racing style. If Quintana gets through the first week, I think he'll skip away on the big mountains. Pinot is climbing really well so he's my outsider tip

Same here. Much as I suspect Astana - I do like Nibali. He is charismatic. He will always look to win the race and as such is not a conservative rider. He also has a knack of looking human at times. Maybe he got a bit lucky last year with Froome and Bert crashing out but he put them under pressure from Stage 2 by taking the race to them. Is he clean? Hell I don't know but he's Italian and rides a bike like a demon so he must be cool.

Is someone starting a dedicated Le Tour thread or are we keeping all the race talk in here?

I'd just keep it in here, during the Giro there wasn't masses of posts so don't think it would warrant a seperate thread. Plus during the tour, it's literally the only pro peloton discussions that will be ongoing :p

I suspect we'll get the casuals coming in, so may be worth a separate thread. I may put something together with all the stage details etc if I can dig it out all easily enough.

Incidentally, if any of you work in London and fancy taking an afternoon off to visit 'Look Mum No Hands' then do let me know. One of the better mountain stages would be best.

I might take you up on that. 'I'm just off out for lunch with a vendor and I'm going to spend the afternoon working at their office......'
