Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

Good on him for doing it, but as expected it creates a raft of other questions and won't convince people either way. The point they seem to be making is his improvement wasn't that significant vs his previous numbers but then why wasn't he more of a contender at Barloworld? Ok, weight comes into it but should be largely irrelevant in a flat TT.

FWIW the question mark has always been over the denominator in his w/kg figure, for me.

Given previous discussions on this forum that's all I have to say, not conclusive either way (was never going to be so never thought it necessary) but fair enough for going through with it.

Two-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome has extended his contract with Team Sky until the end of 2018.

The 30-year-old Briton, who won the Tour in 2013 and 2015, said it was a "very easy decision".

"Their values are my values and I am proud to ride for a team that has shown you can win the biggest bike races in the world clean," he said.

"I am more motivated than I have ever been and I have got big targets for this Olympic year."

Froome, who has been with Sky since the team was founded in 2010, is the only Briton to win the Tour twice.

Team Sky boss Sir Dave Brailsford added: "Chris is not only one of the most talented and dedicated riders in the world, he is also a fantastic ambassador for the sport.

"We are proud to have him as our team leader. He is hungry for more success and we will help him achieve it."
