Pro Cycling Discussion Thread 2015

I wonder whether your man from MTN Qhubeka can grab the polka dot jersey from Rodriguez... That'd be good going for his team in their first tour (de France, they did la Vuelta last year).

Nibali down on the closing straight. Martin as well. And Trentin wins.

Actually it was Stybar who won. Blame the BBC.

It looks like Martin will technically stay in yellow, as the crash occurred within the last 3km, though it doesn't look like he'll be starting tomorrow, so I guess it'll pass to whoever would otherwise be in second. Is it back to Froome then?

Just read from the OPQS twitter feed that Martin went straight over to congratulate Stybar, top bloke. Hope it isn't serious but it didn't look good.

I'd imagine it would go to Froome aye, though that would put more of a burden on Sky to defend the yellow than they'd want to until the mountains.

So there's two flat stages, then the TTT, then the rest day before we hit the real hills. The TTT could be thrown wide open now that OPQS are screwed as well as OGE. Maybe BMC or Saxo could perform well in the TTT and pinch the jersey then? Bad news if Contador picks it up ahead of the mountains.

Looks like he sorted it. Funny quote from Nibali:

“Did we clear it all up? Yeah! We are not footballers, we are cyclists!”

I've just got round to watching the highlights. I forgot about the big crash until 4km from the finish, so then had to watch with a sense of foreboding. Hard to say whether it was Martin's fault or Mr Europcar, though ITV were blaming Martin. Perhaps worth noting that for all the mickey taking about Chris Froome's inability to stay upright he held on even when Nibali fell into him.

Gutted for Martin :(.

Looking at the replays it looks like the guy behind Martin clips his wheel and forces him into the rider next to him (can't tell who they are because of the camera angles).

Awesome quote and sums up what much of cycling is about, much more of a gentlemanly sport!

Yellow jersey seems to be a bit of a curse this year?

When is it not!? ;)

There's some real fight and passion coming from him this year, it's great to see and should make the mountains exciting! :D
