PRO EVO 2008 demo market place

I'm really undecided now. After going back and playing 3 or 4 games online of PES 6 I really like the touch of the players and ability to turn better in the new one but as you say it's quick.

The new one doesn't seem so dependant on Y balls and pace though.
I refer you to a previous post of mine..........
The only slight defence I can give for this is that it is very common to hate each new version of Pro Evo initially, but given time it usually comes into it's own. I've hated every new version at first, it's only 5 and 6 that struggled to turn this around.

The only reason I probably wont bother this time is that I know it won't match up to 4 no matter how much I play it, so why bother?

:)

According to WENB its same demo that was at Leipzig few weeks ago and they found it awful compared to what they played behind scenes. There impressions maybe up on website soon but guy who said posted on forum and here is what he said i quote.

Loads of negativity here, and Im actually happy about that. Why? Its exactly the same build from Leipzig, maybe even worse. I say worse because of the huge amount of bugs that in the demo that wernt in Leipzig.

But overall its the same demo Suffwan found insulting, and the same demo that made me say (you can hear it on one of the videos) I wanted to leave Germany. It was playable and certainly easy to pick up, but a total mess in trying to call it a 'simulation.'

Like many have pointed out the pace is crazy. Far too fast. It something I only noticed in the 360 version, but I can say even that version over in Leipzig was slower than this demo.

In the end though Im very happy to say that it doesnt represent the final quality of the game. Just as the Fifa 08 demo doesnt do it justice, neither does the PES 2008 one. I wont say its a million miles apart, but its certainly more impressive, slower, and a dream to play in wide cam.

Like someone pointed out before, I dont quite understand the point of these demos if they differ so much from the final build. The file size is silly too, at Leipzig it weighed in a 3.98gb. Im not sure if compression had effected the quality, but something is certainly wrong here.

Take it how you wish but i am only bringing info.

Same thing goes for Fifa the Fifasoccerblog is WENB expansion but different people who manage it. But guy from WENB got asked to attend EA and got to play final build and said its far more responsive then Fifa 08 demo (he hated response times).

I will be waiting for full games because seems to me both demos are no way final representation of full game. I feel that Konami demo release now is rather rushed because Fifa was holding limelight so they chucked out demo. Only time will tell i suppose but not so long to wait now. :)

They just posted a number of screenshots with the stats of some good players. Basically Konami have completely slacked again and made them totally incorrect to their actual attributes. Quaresma swerve 79? what football do they watch.

Cant really say much of surprise Konami always been pretty awful with stats many option files on net what make game much better. :)

I actually thought the demo for PES2007 was pretty good, much better than i was expecting, so it is with great hope if they have improved it even more, same goes for FIFA, more responsive? Were in for a couple of blinding footie games this year!

I really like it actually, usually hate new football games until I get used to them but this one I find very easy to adapt to. It seems they've made Brazil crap which is good and they also made Adrianos shooting more realistic (although he still has 99 shot power).

I played the comp in a game and won 7-0 lol.

Don't like it at all. Way, way to fast and unrealistic. Players are running, moving and passing to fast. A step backwards from 6. Quicker close control is good, but its way to quick, almost looks like its a bug.

Graphics have barely improved, the crowd is still a complete mess. The menu is also shocking aswell, why did they have to use the jap arcade style sound?

Certainly interesting Fifa 08 release is only 6-7 days away so not long to find out. :)

I hope both deliver :)

I just played about 10 games and here are my first thoughts:

No slowdown other than cut scenes, no problem
No graphical problems for me, no tearing or pitch textures looking dodgy

+ The goal nets look awesome and ripple nicely
+ The shooting is so much better, you really feel like you get some power behind the shots which I feel PES6 and even FIFA 08 you don't
+ Goalkeepers are much better, in particular when you hold Y to rush them out. They come flying out of goal and go ino for a save/tackle very realistically I find. I gave away a wicked penalty with my keeper, the ball was chest height and he completely killed this guy
+ Player control is very responsive, perhaps too responsive. But it is much nicer than PES6 and FIFA 08
+ The quick free kicks look very slick
+ I LOVE the way the ref shows a card without going to a cut scene straight away. I actually think all bookings and celebrations should remove cut scenes because it looks so much cooler when it doesn't (the bit before it evtually does go to a cut scene)
+ When a keeper makes a save there is a noise (didn't notice this is PES6)
+ The goalkeepers in general are much better
+ foul/tackle animations are good
+ The fact that not just strikers can have a decent shot. In PES6 it seemed that if a MID or DEF had a shot it was COMPLETELY useless. This appears to be fixed slightly now

- Seems a BIT too fast, I like the fact it is quicker than PES6 but I think it should be toned down a bit
- Having to wait for the ref to blow the whistle in order to take a free kick
- The camera when defending a penalty
- Some players seem too fast and it is too easy to just run down the lines, this may be down to the pace and also only playing on medium difficulty
- Gone backwards a little with the ref giving stupid freekicks for what seems like nothing
- Slowdown during cut scenes and replays

Overall I had mixed opinions at first but after a few games I much prefer it to PES6 and I do hope that it is made a bit slower for the final (apparently it has)

It seems much more arcadey than before which I am fine about if the gameplay is good. I think multiplayer will be awesome, I am just slightly concerned that with the improved shooting power/accuracy we might find lots of 7-9 results.

I will probably get both FIFA 08 and PES 2008

This is very poor. :(

I can't say I'm surprised though, the shock at a substandard Pro Evo has worn off after 5 and 6.

I'll definately be sticking with 3 and 4 then, the trade off of outdated players/inferior grahpics against far superior gameplay is more than worth it. I would even go as far as saying this might be the first version of Pro Evo I don't bother buying.

are you for real? 5 was awesome and is still my favourite pro.

(in my opinion)

Don't really care that much for realism - it's a game!

I thought it was fun, certainly more fun than the last couple. Will see if I can play two-player over the weekend, that's the real test.

Thought it was a BIG improvment on pes 6, played faster sharper and just felt like it flowed better! I noticed the pitch pixels but it doesnt bother me, hardly noticeable when your busy playing! Im sure the dive feature is going to cause many arguments and shouting matches during online play and when your playing your mates :D

You know for a couple of matches i thought i was playing PES 6, whats actually changed? i couldn't find anything about diving in the commands list at all. The only actual improvement i saw was the net animations seem a lot nicer. Konami have just sat on their behinds for the last year counting the money it seems, none of the faults have been fixed, play in the box is still crap, first time shots are still crap. I will feel happy about handing my money to EA this year, they've actually put the work in and made a far superior effort, i can only hope that like with tony hawk the devs will take a look at what they've done and realise they can't just release the same game every year.

Mate, it is completely different.

really? i just went back and had a game of PES 6 and it feels pretty much the same (slightly slower), game play feels very similar, still far too much of an emphasis on speedy players dribbling there way to the goal. You never get a a scramble for the ball in the box, always ****** me off about PES because they're fairly common in real life.

Yeah fair point actually.

I really like the demo. Yeah it is a little fast but other than that it's very slick and smooth. I LOVE the new nets especially.

I tried out the 'dive' feature, I nearly wet myself wet Kaka went down like he'd been shot with no one near him. LOL but I'm not really sure it's a great idea, yet.

No slowdown or anything for me apart from cut scenes.

Not sure if it's 100% buy for me yet as I'm a bit worried about the full game content, don't want to be surprised like last year.

Having said that, other than looks, it urinates over Fifa 08 from a great height.

I didn't think the demo was bad, but I also didn't think it was much of a step forward from PES6. Going by demo's alone, Fifa is on top at this stage for me. One thing to bear in mind is that PES still has a month left until release, so any dodgy stats etc can be fixed or may already have been fixed. Besides, theres an edit mode if you want to change things. The player models are better than Fifa I think, the refs are less scripted than the last version, and the shooting is nice too. Its now harder to sky a shot than it is to get it on target. The couple of problems I have with the PES demo are:

1. Some silly AI things, such as when Ronaldinho scored a tap-in and while running away to celebrate he ran into the post! :D

2. When playing against Portugal I scored at the end where all the Portugal fans were sitting, yet they all jumped up and celebrated my goal!

3. The graphics; they really aren't that good still, especially compared to Fifa. I want a true HD experience. We're now seeing incredible graphics in games such as Bioshock, MGS4, etc, so why not Pro Evo?!

4. The Refs are too fussy, far too many silly fouls.

5. It's actually too fast now; my favourite versions of Pro Evo are still 4 on the PS2 and 5 on the Xbox, and this just feels too quick compared to them
