PRO EVO 2008 demo market place

Just got round to playing it, much better than FIFA for me. I don't like the fact in FIFA that I have to use the analogue stick, makes everything feel very sluggish and like I'm not in control.

Also had zero issues with the graphics / pausing / slowdown in PES.

Been hammering this since last night, and like all PES games I was a bit unsure at first but now im getting into it and learning all the new stuff I can really see the quality. Very pleased. Presentation is awful and the music is laughable, new crowd is terrible also but thats never what PES has been about.

I'm liking it so far, yet to try FIFA so can't compare of yet.

The pitch is crap but I only liked one pitch on PES6 so hopefully there will be a pitch I like :) As said, the goal nets look a lot better, the player and goalkeepers physics have been improved which is good.

There wasn't that much they should have changed from 6 really, I'm still seeing annoying offsides which is frustrating other than that I'm pleased. Shooting is a lot better, scored some cracking goals, its fun to play.

Will have more to say later but only played 3 games on easy.

Dowloaded the demo last night, had a good few games on it. My first impressions are that it's definately an improvement over PES6.

+ The graphics look MUCH sharper on a HDTV, bigger improvement than people seem to be making out.
+ Controls seem more responsive.
+ Gameplay feels more realistic to me, seems to vary much more than PES6, where it was either ''pass, pass, through ball, through ball, shoot'' or ''run down the wing, cross, shoot.''

It definately has its downsides though.

- Noticable slowdown which is really annoying
- It's like they've tried to make the weight of the ball more realistic but gone waaay overboard, feels like you're kicking a brick.

*EDIT* - After a few more matches, I've changed my mind about the weight of the ball. It's actually an improvement, just takes getting used to coming from PES6.

I thought this part was vastly improved from last time, sometimes in PES6 you would play a one touch pass and it would take FOREVER for it to reach its man. This time it seems a lot easier to play one touch football.

Only some people are getting slowdown Dan, most arent.

Ah, wonder why that is? Definate slowdown for me though, very annoying.

After a few more games, I've got to agree. Just stuck PES6 on for a bit then went back to the PES08 demo and it's definately an improvement, feels more responsive and much smoother.

On another note, just downloaded the FIFA08 demo, massive imrpovement for the FIFA series but stille doesn't feel like football should feel like in a computer game.

Well my download didn't finish before I went out last night so I only had a couple of games when I got in around midnight but initial thoughts are that the passing much like the last game seems far to slow. The graphics aint the best either was quite disappointed with the player likenesses as well especially as with the likes of Cristiano it should be spot on seeing as he's been licensed for the game

Hopefully the above is just due to it being the demo but I cant see massive changes come the full game :(

it's stupid to get too carried away from a demo either way but the player models are pretty nice.

gameplay is hard to judge as it's way too fast and i hate using the 360 pad for PES/WE anyway but i'm looking forward to the PC version for some native widescreen resolution instead of relying on kitserver for one.

i think it's shaping up ok, pes demos are usually vastly different from the final version.

I have to say that after playing the demo I am disappointed. I was a big fan of the Winning eleven series, they played a much nicer game of football than either Fifa or PES. PES always comes across as being too quick for me and completely unrealistic. Perhaps I enjoyed the way FIFA 08 played but I don't think I will be getting this unless it changes drastically from the demo when released.

my 2p.

I've clocked at least 1-2 hours a day of PES 4, 5 and 6 a day for the last three years.

In my humble opinion PES7's demo is the closest to "simulation" thus far in that it forces a passing game.

I;ve never been the best dribbling player in PES but PES 7 players like Ronaldo and Torres seem far less effective.

Yes pace is still a little bit "win move" but I definately think the gameplay has been refined and improved.

If they get the attributes right, for example Fernando Torres is not as fast as he should be, then this has a chance of being the best PES yet, for me.

Just finished downloading this and i think its great, pace of the game is too fast obviously but otherwise the game flows really well and close control is excellent. Free kicks are definitely improved and i think shooting may be too. Not sure if it was just me but i got quite frustrated having to keep waiting for the whistle, may just be a new way of loading though... If its only going to get better than im definitely glad ive pre ordered it, much better than the fifa 08 demo felt.

Only thing that really dissapointed me was Torres, seemed to be slow and clumsy, think Konami have something against Liverpool! Was really hoping we'd have a decent striker in this game!

Another thing i just found is when a player gets hit by the ball they actually react to it, like it knocks them over or something, pretty cool

Yeah the whistle for freekicks is bloody annoying.

Nah he was rubbish last year too. I use Spain pretty much all the time and swap him out for Joaquin or Reyes. In the new one he's in the starting 11 buy Reyes stats are better IIRC.

Villa is awesome in the game. Great finisher. Iniesta is great for taking players on and he's on the bench. They have a rock solid defense and decent players to cover just about any position or formation you want to play.
