Is the demo on XBL? I looked last night but there was nothing there.
Not until the 15th or so for the 360, the demo is a PS3 exclusive at the moment.

Ah right, thanks for clearing that up.
I just want to try it for the LULZ really.

But actual football often has tedious build up as the attacking team probes the defence to try and find an opening.
I think that's important, and makes a big difference in the satisfaction of scoring, especially if a team has frustrated you all game and you manage to score in the final kick of the game.
IRT atmosphere, I usually get a kit + chants patch installed within the first few days from evo-web, so the chanting generally sounds a lot more realistic to me in PES than FIFA. So to be fair, the stock atmospherics in FIFA probably are better, but I still find scoring much more satisfying in PES than FIFA.
I personally think the commentary in both games is equally poor, so either way I'd have it switched off after a few days.
i remember installing patches on the ps2 days, didn't realise you could do it for the ps3!

In PES when you score, you stop hearing the repeated dull wallop while you seem to be kicking a sack full of hardened mash potato...I guess that's your personal opinion but I am the opposite way around. In FIFA the commentary team will compliment you on your achievement, and not only that but you get to celebrate the goal however you like, with whatever celebration you choose, unlike PES which is score and then be presented with a generic camera showing your player running off. The crowd makes an effort in FIFA as well, in the PES demo I hardly noticed much difference in the standard crowd noise and the after goal crowd noise.

DUH DUH (score) crowd whimper
Just thought about this more - PES is the Latvian of football games

Basically all the component animations seem fine - how it passes the ball or receives it etc, but when these are put together in an animation cycle they dont match up - its really obvious.Yes I can see your points. I'm going to try the game again with faster game speed as I felt it was a bit slow for my liking, I think I've been playing it wrong. I'll probably end up renting the full game, I don't think I could spend £30+ on a game with such bad running animations, it's as if they have the one animation but it doesn't link up very well so it's just animation then a 1 or 2 frame jerk straight into the animation again, and that just repeats its' self as you try to dribble the ball. I'll give it another go.
The gameplay is ******* ***** - given this demo at least 3 hours - I can score more but they are all simple goals that I did in FIFA with no frustrating effort. The games just not fun - it has all the disadvantages I hate about FIFA but none of the advantages...Some of us prefer gameplay over sound and graphics.![]()

**** *** - you actually cant do that? Thought it was me not knowing the right button combination!...and the lack of ability to start players on off the ball runs frustrates me no end...

Thats the problem I can - theres nothing in the game to make me need to be creative or gives me the control to attempt to be - the amount of times Ive ran up to Messi or Villa with a defender hoping they may run off into space or do something is amazing - everytime Ive been disappointed...So your problem with the gameplay is that you can't waltz through for a clean shot on goal with every attack? PES is as close to proper football as you can get atm, and that's why people love it.
FIFA, while it has it's place, is arcade in comparison, and whilst I will get it for club, PES will be my football game of choice this year.

The last couple of Pro Evos for me have always ended up devolving into pegging it rapidly at the defense with your best player, or taking long range pot-shots. The build up tends to be a lot less fluid, and the lack of ability to start players on off the ball runs frustrates me no end. Yes, passing in Fifa tends to be a bit ping-pong (although that's apparently being addressed in this version), but on the plus side you can score some awesome passing goals as players tend to make the runs which are conducive to this. The lack of decent off the ball movements in recent Pro Evos drives me nuts...
Really? I've had no problems with players making runs. I've played numerous 1-2s in every game I've played with overlapping fullbacks.
these are things that are just givens in FIFA and though that might lead to easier goals, maybe the goal in question just should be...
