the first time i booted my pc it worked fine and booted from the disc without having me to enter the bios or do anything.

was installing windows 7 64 bit but got stuck on 0% at the firt part of the installation so i decided to restart, now every time i boot it says:

'BOOTMGR is missing
press ctrl+alt+del to restart'

i cant even enter my bios or boot or anything, when i do try to enter my bios or boot it just gives me a black screen with nothing on it.

help please

The inability to enter the BIOS is the worrying part of this for me. What motherboard and keyboard do you have?

The missing boot manager is an easy fix assuming you can boot from the optical media

ExRayTed +1. Maybe you use different key for entering BIOS (different motherboards have different combination). Try to [turn PC off] unplug drive's cable [turn on] and enter BIOS again, would it work ?

does the 1 stick of ram matter? i will be buying another stick next week.

i tried many keys to enter bios but still nothing, just got a black screen.

i know what the problem is with the windows 7 boot, while i was installing it froze on 0% so i turned off the pc, now it says a specific file is missing which is the file that boots up the pc into windows 7, i just dont know how to fix this right now since i have no other pc to format the hard drive. another way you can format the hard drive is through the bios (i think) or install something over it but i need access to the bios...which i dont have.

tomorrow im going to go to a friends house and format my hard drive and install windows 7 64 bit on it then update all the bios software do you think that will help? or is this a serious problem? thanks

Windows installation can stay at 0% for 20 minutes or so, depends on the speed on your hard drive! If that was all is it I would say you just cut the installation off and now it behaves like it has a windows OS installed, but doesn't and so is looking for the boot file!

You say everytime you boot you get to... 'BOOTMGR is missing
press ctrl+alt+del to restart'

But then you say you can't even enter bios or boot or anything! Thats confusing...

Does it boot to.. 'BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart' evertime you switch on...

Or do you just get a black screen!? If the first is true I would say your motherboard and bios is fine...

What motherboard do you have by the way!?

not right now, what do you suggest if i do?

I was going to suggest using Easus Partion Manager, re-format and make it a Primary disk. This will then make it bootable and restore the mbr.

Although you still have the problem of getting into the bios. You could try removing the Cmos battery( turn off PC and unplug Psu), leave it out for about 10 mins or so. Replace it and reboot, see if that helps.

it boots to.. 'BOOTMGR is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart' evertime i switch on but before that screen appears the gigabyte brand appears and at the bottom it has stuff written like 'bios and q flash DEL - boot F12 - Q flash esc'

if i hit any of the keys associating with the motherboard functions it just takes me to a black screen.

i guess my real problem is getting into the bios...i just messed up installing windows 7 and have to format the hard drive using another pc since i cant get into bios.

so my real problem is getting into the bios. note that i have not updated anything, just tried using it out of the box maybe thats a factor?

Do you have a different OS cd on you!?

You couls use it to format the harddrive... clear it from half thinking you have an Os installed!

Was also thinking the cmos idea!

Try using a wired keyboard. My FM2 board won't let me into the bios with a wireless USB keyboard, but is fine when I use a wired keyboard.

Try removing the Cmos battery, as I mentioned earlier. This will reset the Bios.

Try this! to be honest this is normally the last resort and about 90% of the time it works.

then as you switch your pc on spam the F12 key !!! to get into the bios.

Hope it all works out for your dude!

are you using a graphic card or onboard graphics? try with both

it should be the delete key on gigabyte boards to enter the bios

have you installed windows or not?
