Also, is it just me or have you whacked a great big turbo lump in there, and not done anything with the suspension or brakes (except a new master cylinder)? :eek:
 
Sorry guys well overdue an update!

Well it's road legal now.

You wouldn't read about the nightmare I had MOT'n it, got lost / run out of fuel / walk to petrol station, that turns out to be closed for refurb / with help from a previous beetle owner get fuel / turns out not fuel, fuse / swap fuse, starts goes / blows fuse again just off a dual carrage way roundabout, just coast round to an exit / help from a current beetle owner tows to MOT place to sort problem and MOT / can't sort problem but does run / MOT = FAIL / do the few silly bits / MOT = PASS.

Local legend 'judgie' (RNJ Motorsport) sorts out miss fire / fuse blowing problem, turns out the loom to injectors 1&2 had snagged the fan at the rear of the engine and put a teeny tear in it, enough to occasionally blow fuse.

Oil leak reared its particularly ugly head again on way back from MOT, judgie recomended trying millers 20/50 compitition oil it's what he uses in his hill climb car, got some (not cheap stuff I need to mention!) it still leaks but nowhere near as badly as it did, but the engine does need to be pulled out again I asked judgie if he'd pop over when it's out so he can see for himself whats what because there was nowt wrong with the other seal??.
I'm just finishing off some decor in the house, then I'll get out into the garage and pull the engine.

I did pop along to the ocuk track day @ palmer, but needed to change oil to the millers and clean the plugs and get road tax, got over there about 3-4pm ~ish, most had done the off by then !

We also went to the 'shoe county dubbers christmas cruise' this was the first vw event for the bug, it was awesome real good fun!

I have also just decided to go in for VWDRC this year, I've paid my site membership, need to get race licence, race suit, gloves & helmet, fire ext also need to get a cage although i need to do a RWYB to see how fast the ting is, if under 14.99 (which it will be) I need a roll cage, if under 12.99 (which it may be) I'll be in VWpro and I need a higher speced full cage. When I know what I need I'll go see judgie again and he can build me a tagged cage to suit my needs.

I've never done owt like that not even a rwyb, so should be an experience :D
So if you're at the pod or shakey and it's also a vwdrc event come and say hello hopefully I won't be crying over a load of shrapnel that used to be a vw engine:D:(

With events running every month and at every major Santa Pod show there are over 50 separate opportunities in 2010 for a bit of twos-up, heads-up racing! Any road legal car is eligible, but understandably, real race car drivers, bikers and anyone running faster than 130mph will have to travel solo!

Upon announcing the move, Santa Pod MD, David Lloyd Jones was quick to point out the many benefits. "We’re proud to have added this new dimension to our RWYB days,’ he said. ‘By allowing passengers, it not only makes it a far more enjoyable day for groups of friends attending, but also opens the door for any tuners or commercial organisations to come along and showcase their wares to prospective customers. This fundamental change in our running regulations also means we can offer ‘experience’ rides to allow newcomers to the sport to discover the thrill of the quarter mile, for the price of a round of drinks."

Although each run is limited to one passenger per car, there is no limit to the amount of guests accompanying each car, so if you’re looking to sell, to impress, to entertain – or even for a first date with a difference, why not try the new RWYB for two?
