Wow, it's due an up date
To bring the cars developments up to date:
Lets see, so I ended my first year of VWDRC in PRO and with a PB of 13.07 or something very close to a real pro time, and having had the most excellent time - I can't recommend the VWDRC enough!
But unfortunately with a broken gearbox - I'd stripped 1st on launch.
So I sent the box to a vzi gearbox wizzard and he sorted it I decided to go with a weddle chro-mo main & 1st.
I had kinda ruled out ETB (round 1) due to thinking the weather would be pants - but it turned out to be a scorcher!
But I'd just set up my own business so funds were going to that, so I wasn't going to do a full year anyway, I did a VWDRC round at the summer nats PB of 13.009 or something ridiculous! (sooo close to a proper pro time!!), but then I split a barrel which judgie kindly sourced for me and started to fix it, I had a bi into the semis as I was no.1 qualifier but late at night putting the engine back together, on the final leg, one of the push rod tubes split.....game over / gutted.
Anyway got that fixed with a set of new adjustable ones from stateside the following week.
I did bug jam came runner up in pro, so was over the moon with that, and with a PB of 12.7, so quite well into pro times, I hadn't expected that much I thought it'd do 12.9/maybe late 8 so 12.7 I was chuffed with!
I got the car MOT'd the morning of vw action and drove it there just in time for night race sign on, and pulled a 12.3 out of the hat

- just amazed at that really - VERY happy!
I also did rwyb at gti fest in sept, running consistant 12.7's, but then on the last run, split a barrel again - same one, so thinking the injector could be dickie on that one - haven't sorted it yet, but some B&p's are souced, just waiting for them to be available to me, and v.soon I'll get the injectors tested & cleaned at northampton motorsport.
Other work done during the year / upto now
I converted the trans mount to solid, linked the frame horns to the cage, and a few bits of paintwork.
Frame horn parts & axle tubes painted
Cars name is Ex so...
Bit of copper film sign writing with my company name
Whilst the engine was apart, thought I do something with the tinware
Head lamp surrounds were a tad off colour and the bottom corner and middle top of the door had a niggling issue too.
Late last year I just put stickers on the running boards, so yesterday, thought I'd do something with that, make it better.
On the 'to do' list
I have some f/torsion leaves to swap over.
Engine to build
I've just got some Erco Race weights, and also planning on getting some slicks.
I've launch control on the omex 600, but isn't working so I'd like to sort that out for a much more consistent RPM at launch.
If time and money more rolling road.
