Project Cars 2 is en route :D

nobody up for the challenge then ? :(

on other news

why am i hearing EA kills Project Cars, i assume that just means that we will have no No.4 ?

i like P C 2, been told its better than the 3rd one, so i was hoping there would be a 4 !

Ea killing Project Cars? Not heard that but then again I hear very little about anything.
That'd be a shame. PC1 and PC2 were very good. (Not that I completed them but they did inspire my enthusiasm in sim and VR, which very soon got me in to Iracing). PC1 and PC2 are sims, yes, but lean towards the fun, enjoyable side of racing. Fun, certainly good enjoyable sims but not too serious. That's what is good about them.
PC3 seemed, to me anyway, an attempt at reaching out to the less serious gamers. Not for simmers really. More fun than sim. That in itself is not a bad thing. I enjoy playing Horizon Chase Turbo with my mrs when sat on the sofa. (You'd have to play it to understand it is a total game and full of laughs. Far from being a sim. - and the mrs often beats me. Grrrr ;).

On PC3 though, I think they took PC3 a bit too far. It seems a bit too "game" rather than sim oriented to me. Fun and good but it doesn't really build on the aspects I found enjoyable in PC1 and PC2. PC3 sort of dumbs things down. It doesn't quite get the sim/fun -game balance right for me.
If there was a PC4 I'd definitely give it a go. Even if just to see what it was like.

Forgive my amatuer ramblings here. Despite my comments I have not yet achieved the lofty heights of adjusting tyre pressures to good effect. Never mind all the other stuff that just whizzes over my head and past me on the track:)

does anyone here still play pCARS2? it's a great game but I went back to it last night for 1st time in 12 months or more.... and my wheel would not work. it's was detected correctly as a fanatec GT2 and the wheel is working in windows . The buttons worked but zero response on the wheel I deleted the controller profile and started again. wheel is now detected as a Porsche racing wheel and it calibrated ok. if I pick the correct GT2 however it does not work. now I can play but at the start of a race it automatically pulls all the way hard to the left and I have to wrestle it back to centre. then it is ok but the force feedback vibrations are way to strong (it's a bit like racing on uk roads I guess). turning the effects down has no effect. it's now fun and fully playable but the feedback is not as good as it was when correctly using my wheel.

Haven't played PCars in yonks. Or my sim rig. Must get back to it. Keep telling myself.

Anyhoo, could it be something to do with the compatability mode button on the Fanatec base?

Very strange, I stopped playing it over a year ago because my fanatec wheel just stopped working with it one day. Tried it a few times since and has never worked again.
interesting..... sounds like it could be the same.

so I deleted my wheel settings from the my documents folder... it then identified the wheel incorrectly as the original Porsche wheel... but at least then it is usable.

Ams2 is kinda the spiritual successor to pcars 2
to be honest I have so many racing games..... barely played dirt 1 or dirt 2, never seen any of my DLC for assetto Corsa and not even installed ASsetto Corsa champizone or what ever. (bought in early access)

pCARs I never really liked the handling but pCARS2 I absolutely love but even that I have barely 5 hrs in.

basically I don't need to buy any more racing games :D

(I have put 50hrs+ into ETS2 and DLC but not installed ATS yet despite owning sinc elaunch

does the GT2 have such a mode? I guess I better Google. thanks.

The CSL Elite and the DD pro bases have a compatability mode button. It switches from pc/ps4 and something else simply called compatability mode.
I recall having to use it when setting the fanatec wheel up on my pc for RFactor 2. My wheel and pedals wouldn't behave properly in pc mode. Had to use "compatanility" mode.

Hi thanks... got ya.. yeah mine does have that, you have to turn it on in different ways depending on if you want ps3, xbox 360, normal pc mode.... and maybe logitech emulation mode (cant remember for sure on the last one, i may be thinking of a different wheel).

i am turning it on correctly however for pc mode.... and it is detected properly in windows.

funnily enough however there is a change.............. despite being in pc mode (apparently) the lights on the wheel are now matching the ps3 buttons. in the past when in pc mode it matched the xbox button layout............... so i wonder if something has changed since i put on the new (as new as i can go on my wheel) drivers.

note the age of my wheel - it has ps3 and xbox 360 modes, rather than newer products which likely support newer consoles... but that should not effect its pc use

ok incase someone comes here in the future (with my memory probably me) I fixed it.

initially i used what ever drivers windows 10 installed and it didnt work. i installed the newest drivers on the fanatec site...................... that didnt work but came up with "please install driver XYZ for your wheel (i cant remember which it was) this didnt work.
looking on the fanatec website i could not actually find any info about the Porsche GT2. I know its old (probably 11 years now) but it is still an incredible wheel, and the alcantara leather is almost as good as new (the centre console of the wheel did get rubber rot but a bit of 100% ethanol cured that.
the wheel almost looks new still, and its expensive, for the use it gets i have no intention of replacing and i think fanatec do a poor job of supporting their old stuff on their website.

long story short....... .use driver 261. the moment i put that on the wheel correctly showed up as a GT2 rather than a generic Porsche wheel and it works perfectly.

link here but i could not find it from the fanatec site directly
