Project Cars 2 VR? Is it OK?

Pcars 2 is fantastic in vr, for immersion you can't beat it, I use a logitech g920 wheel which does a great job adding even more to the immersion, you should also consider a buttkicker if funds allow as this just puts the icing on the cake, feeling the rumble strips and clunk of the gears through the seat is so cool. Enjoy

I looked at Butkickers but found Dayton Audio for a lot less money. They need flat surfaces to mount to, but if you have (or can fabricate) a way to mount them they work great.

I'm running: 4X Dayton Audio BST-1, 2X FX Audio FX252A, and Simhub in corner mode.

Got a Quest now, and will be selling the CV1.

If you still have the CV1, I would hold on to it until you verify the the Quest+cable works well with PC2.

I hear the link cable works better with some titles than others.

G920 supports PC and XBox One, G29 supports PC and PS3/4.

Which one you get is really up to you - they'll both feel the same in the hand (and feet), and the G29 rev LEDs you can't see in VR anyway. Personally I'd get whichever one you can find cheapest. Also look at the Thrustmaster T300 in the same price range - that apparently has a smoother-feeling wheel than the Logitech, but only comes with 2 pedals AFAIK.
I have 'upgraded' to the Thrustmaster TX (Xbox/PC version of T300 for PS4) and this is belt driven as opposed to the gear driven G29/920. I upgraded from the G27 which I assume is similar to the G29 (less a lot of buttons) but the G27 came with a shifter console with lots of buttons.
The Thrustmaster TX is definitely smoother and more responsive than the G27 also having almost double the FFB strength making it easier to catch slides early before spinning off etc, also there are interchangeable rims for the TX, I've not long bought the 599xx Evo alcantara rim for it and its really nice.

I also have adapters to enable me to use my G27 pedals with the Thrustmaster TX and to enable the Gear shifter to work also because the 2 pedal setup of the TX is trash!

The TX cost me about £100 2nd hand off facebook marketplace local and came with the 458 italia rim and the alcantara rim was about £130 new.

My goal is the Fanatec Club sport v2.5 base, V3 pedals and either Formula V2 wheel or similar but this is a way off yet as 2nd hand are hard to come by and new is pretty pricey at around £600 for the base alone!

There are many options but if you are lucky enough to get quality used stuff then go for it.

Yep, the sky's the limit with these things - it really just depends on how much you're prepared to spend! For the casual part-time sim racer like myself I think the G29/G920 setup is ideal for the money (and the bare minimum for a decent VR experience IMO). Personally I can't justify spending upwards of a grand on racing gear - I don't have enough dedicated space, and just don't do it often enough personally (I really just enjoy throwing a car around a track against AI opponents from time to time - the sheer driving experience is fantastic in VR).

If things start getting serious, then it's definitely worth looking further up the peripheral hierarchy at Thrustmaster and Fanatec with a dedicated racing rig.

First vr head set, Quest 2,
Game looks terrible in VR, 1070, I7 9700K, 3080 on order,
Looks like a what i would expect project cars to look like on ps1 lol,
Any ideas?, cant raise Supersampling, tried and failed, changed in game graphic setting and made no difference,

I have no experience with the Quest, but the CV1 benefited greatly from the sharpening tool in the Project cars documents folder. (Text editable. I used 0.9 strength)

Cheers bud, tried it but no noticeable difference from what i can tell anyway

graphicsconfigoculusdx11.xml is the specific file that needs editing.

<prop name="SharpeningStrength" sharpeningstrength="0.900000" />

(There are multiple VR files)

Pc2
Using link cable, anker 10foot usb a 3.0 to usb c
Performance wise running good,
Just really terrible gfx in the headset,

Maybe a crappy AA setting? What makes the graphics terrible specifically? I was assuming it was blurry, but it could be something else completely. Also, Are you staying away from ASW? Oculus does synthetic frames better than anyone, but they are still not as good as fully rendered frames.

ASW? sorry noob question probably, not sure what that is,
Yeah blurry/dull and textures seem really low res looking,
It really is like comparing pc desktop PC2 to something on the ps1 or ps2
I understand it wont look like it does on the desktop but I thought it would be better than what I see,
Even the internals of the car dont look particularly great

Try running Oculus Debug Tool.

Set the encoder width to 3664.

That might be too high a setting, if it is try setting it to 2784.
Yeah tried that as well,
Tbh I'm just starting to think my expectations when it comes to vr were way to high,
But when you hear people say how amazing things look I kind of had high expectations,
I would not be able to play this game as it just look to terrible to me lol
