Project Diamond Black: 100% Complete AT LAST!! - Tons of Pictures

Thanks for the kind comments again. Shall be finished soon.

As for chroming sambo, mine cost £80. But just for the cage I reckon it would be probably £60. Looking on www.kellysearch.com for chrome platers and then ring them up and ask them about it.

Im not sure if alu can be done as its a process of electrolysis so it depends on where abouts in the reactivity series the metal is. Worth an ask though.

Mine was done great, but just make sure they know which parts to "Polish" as the inside bottom of my case wasnt "polished"

did a search on chrome platers in the uk and it came up with nothing :(

maybe this proves u wrong paul ;)

Theres a difference between chrome plating and aluminium coating my dear friend. Aluminium can be anodised and polished pretty shiney, it however cannot be chrome plated directly. It may be possible for it to be painted in some kind of conductive paint and then chromed but I would imagine that would be very expensive and not very hard wearing.

Dude I'd love for you to proove me wrong because I want to chrome plate my entire CM200 :)

I'm sure alloy can be chromed mate, although I've no evidence to back it up :(

But look how many motorbikes are out there with chrome plated, alloy engine parts. :)

I'm guessing they use a similar process as they do when chrome plating plastic parts ( like the badges in your sig)
i.e. nickel plate it first ( as a sort of 'primer') then chrome over the top.

But, as you say, lets not get it mixed up with anodising.

Good luck in your search sambo :)

The thing is, you might not be able to get every part polished due to polishing being hand done and the intricate parts cannot be polished. The large areas, flat, uncomplex areas can be though.

I got steel and stainless steel chrome plated and polished btw. They should be able to nickel plate it then chrome plate it as that is what they had to do with my stainless steel plates.

try searching for metal platers instead.

Right ive turned the fan on the radiator, sucking heat away from it. Still not the best of airflow remember.

Anyway ive been playing with the clock speeds again since the house electrics are sorted, it wasnt due to my computer but a dodgy switch in house circuit.

The highest fsb I have managed with 2.9v on ram is 226mhz which is quite a nice figure. Along with highest multiplier along with that fsb its 11. So that comes to 2486mhz.

Im seeing how high the chip can go with the fsb lowered and at the moment im running 200x13 which is 2600mhz which is also very nice:D

Temperatures im not bothered about at the moment, they are in the 40c's on idle but this is due to the crap radiator, im currently just seeing what the chip is capable of producing.

My plans for the clock speeds at the moment is to see how much higher I can go with different fsb/multi configs and I will post those here.

Ok, I tried 200x13.5 (2700mhz) at 2.3v, 2.2v but it wouldnt boot. So I put it to 2.1v and it booted and I got up to the Win2k login screen but then it froze. Think im trying a bit to hard there:D

So I know I can safely get at least a 100% overclock safely, which isnt bad going considering it was a £60 chip:D

At the moment how im gonna run it is with the highest fsb I could attain, which is 226x8 (1808mhz) at stock volts. You might ask why, well I have to have the fan on the radiator to get the uber high clock speeds and im quite liking the silence without it, so ill have a nice high fsb along with a modest clock speed without fan and it should be nice:)

But when I get a big radiator expect me to have it on 2.5ghz daily:D

looks very good that setup now its complete :D or is it ;) .

Nope not complete yet, just a few bits to put on which will make quite a bit of difference.

The chrome platers were meant to ring me about the remaining two parts but they havent:mad:

You deserve a pat on the back and a place in OcUK history for that one gurdas. That's one of the best mods to grace the forums.

Once you change the rad it'll be a system run like the proverbial dogs as well as looking!

Keep up the good work and make sure you have plenty of chrome polish handy!

ya i must say that does deserve a place in OC history, some nice Oc's there too, once u get that new rad u want you'll be home free.....

Why don't the Don's create a copy of project threads like this in the empty CC archive to use as reference or something?
