Project Dovakhin (prev. Angel) - Build Log *Picture Heavy*

100% the fan controller. I got an Akasa 9x fan splitter running directly off the Molex, no "vibrations" from the fans at all. There is a basic IC on the controller, but as far as I can make out it's there simply to might the LED's once a current above a set limit is applied to the fans or when the "sense" lead of the fans tells the controller there is motion. Beyond that the fans are powered directly through the POT's, I can't see a reason these should cause any interference with the fans.

Small update: Still working a few design flaws out with the water cooling. I had a pipe come out of a compression fitting last night due to the pump moving around and pulling the tube. I've fixed this in the short term by placing a 120mm fan between the pump and case edge, preventing any more motion. Running quite low on cash these days too, even small things like Dye Bombs seem expensive recently. I have a load of gear to get sold at some point, including two 5970's with full cover copper blocks and an i7 920 base system (Asus P6T-SE). I do have enough components to rebuild this system (excluding PSU) complete with water cooling, if anyone is interested or can even shed light on what that system is worth these days feel free to get in touch.

Pic's to come very soon guys, I've been working long hours these past few weeks but I twisted my ankle today so I get time off to play around :D

Also a quick thanks to "Mike" at Mayhem's for his tip on using coffee filter paper for removing pearls from Aurora coolants. Worked a treat :) If you see this Mike; I diluted the Aurora by 3/1 with DI water, will the anti-fungi/algae inhibitors still work?

Had chance to mess with the camera I have at the moment and managed to get a couple better pictures without all the static and messed up lighting:

If the image is larger than 1280 pixels wide then please resize, put in spoiler tags or link only. Thank you.

Done, forgot to do it for this set of pictures :)

Got the perspex put back in, took me a while to find the correct size rivets and washers to do it without breaking anything. Got a slight scratch on the top panel however which sucks, not to obvious and should easily be hidden with a sharpie pen.

Hi James, can you text me the picture please m8 as I can't view it on my phone for some reason and I won't be near my pc for a few days :)

Having some rather big money issues as of late, so unfortunately I will have to put this build on hold until after Xmas it seems. I'll be having a room clearance soon, including a full rig to sell so keep an eye out in MM over the coming weeks.

Sorry guys :(

Put an EK Supreme HF CPU block on the CPU today given I can't afford a new one for a while. Idle temps are 34/34/34/30 and load 48/49/49/45 @ stock settings. Warmer than I'd have liked but as mentioned earlier in the thread I never did like the supreme block for the simple reason it sucks. Idle temps @ 4.6Ghz are 35/35/35/32 load 48/49/49/45. Prime 95 temps max out around 60c per core.

I also have around an hours footage of me draining the loop, taking the main board out and fitting the EK Supreme and putting it all back together. Needs some editing so if and when I get chance that will get put up :)

[Edit]

i was lured in by the title, and i was not disappointed. great build log

Great looking build. the detail is imense.

Case looks fantastic . Got some great hardware in there as well . I just hope when u finish the build the cables won't ruin it :p

Thanks guys :)

Yer the cables are going to be a huge pain, I'm hoping to get a new PSU for the build at some point which is fully modular. I also need (cough want) to put the mainboard under water as well, along with the RAM. New reservoirs are in order too, not sure which model to go with yet, and if I should use two or not. I do have a second D5 pump just going to waist in my box of magic and it would be a shame to not use it.

I'm hoping to use the brackets that Schizo used in his build to hold the pumps onto the rads, chiefly to prevent them moving around the case and causing hoses to come off....again

Progress on this one is slow guys, but stay subbed, once I get some cash rolling in again there is a LOT more work to be done.

Grill, or no grill? (Note the fans are black, I just don't have a spare for that port):

Not much of an update here guys just using the oppertunity to let some of you know I am selling the two Corsair TX950W PSU's I used in this rig so I can get a single Corsair AX1200. Both are in fully working order and aside from a bit of dust in mint condition.

Can be found in the MM here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=23543351#post23543351

I have made a few alterations to the build, mostly tidying up more than anything but have held of posting pictures until I get the new PSU so things look a little tidier than they are now. Trying to hide cables from two PSU's in a case this open is simply impossible.... I might snap some pics tonight of the front of the case, and maybe the new radiator layout. I did add some Mayhem's Galaxy Purple concentrate, but to my utter disappointment it didn't even last a day. I must have some standing water in my loop somewhere, and I'm fairly certain it's because I messed up the loop order on the rad's causing air to trap in one of them. I may go for a UV coolant at some point and grab some cathodes.

Oh I may be putting the 5970's up I mentioned in an earlier post at some point, I'll post back in here if any of you are interested.
