Call it "Got wood".

I recommend drawing air from under the desk if possible, that way you won't have fan holes ruining the look and it should be quieter.

That is not a bad idea.
I did think of that, but my concern with doing that in the front from under the desk would be no or not much airflow running over the HDD's and mobo.

Do you think they would stay cool enough without the fans directly blowing over them?
I could always mount fans inside the desk to just push air around inside?

out of interest, why are there 2 rows of "teeth" cuts in the picture above. I've looked in the dropbox link, and there's nothing that explains to a dummy like me - see P1050820.JPG and P1050835.JPG also...

I presume that it's so that you have a smooth inside wall also...

Yes that's exactly it.
Both sides need to be cut in order to bend.
And as the other side will be seen as the glass top we need to do the same on the other side.
And if there are no teeth it won't bend.

the hdds will remain cool, i personally dont think modern hdd's need extra cooling anyway. fans on the sides and underneath would be good to keep it looking clean. if you have more fans blowing in than out anyway you will have airflow through the desk so it doesnt matter where the fans are

also dont use perspex as a surface, it scratches very easily so glass is the best option.

Thanks for the tip on Perspex.
I have already decided on glass so its all good :)

Ye we havent cut the holes for fans yet.
So I will double check later.

But I feel the same way, mounting underneath will be the best option.
Can also mount 1 or 2 on the inside left hand side.
Blowing air across.

This will be perfect :)

So....
Started assembly today.
But well we hit a snag.
The depth of the curve is too great when sitting down at it.
Making your arms uncomfortable. Something we did see coming, but was a bit too late to change. So we are altering out plans and cutting down the top.
Then cutting the base and dropping it backwards at a down angle to be back pannels.
This should still give us room for Mobo and a high GPU.

So tomorrow all the hard work starts again cutting up all the hard work we have done... *sigh*

We have a new idea to fit the gaming mobo.
And the server we will do half height.
I will have a new design idea up in a bit.
Will post the changes here.

We did most of the big work in a marquee in the garden yes.
The garage is full of other things as he is doing a big wardrobe job for another client.
And I kinda pushed him to get it going :)

I can post pics in the thread too, its jut there are LOADS.
I will continue to use dropbox, but put some more up in the thread itself.

Updated desk layout.
Fits better now, and the front curve isnt too large.
We will shave about 100mm off the top.
This makes sitting at the desk a bit more ergonomic.

The server will become half height.
So the I/O Shield will be take half height cards.
As it wont need a GPU or anything.

Also ordered some components for my new rig.
Im mainly waiting for Haswell, but as deals come up I am picking up components here and there.
I have got Corsair Memory Dominator Platinum 16GB DDR3 1866 MHz (CAS 9-10-9-27)
And a Seasonic P1000W PSU Full Modular, 80 PLUS Platinum

Cheers. I'm finding the continuity gets a bit lost with having to flick to dropbox, and it doesn't really do your efforts the justice that I think that they deserve. Sorry if that sounds critical or ungrateful..

Now. This veneering lark... (pootles off to Dropbox link.... )... :)

Am I correct in my understanding that the wood is already veneered on the surfaces, so you have been applying a veneer to the cut edges?

It looks like it's coming together superbly!
