Hi Guys,

(firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong section, please move if it is)
I've recently purchased a house with my missus... That's enough back story.

The upshot of it is, We have a double garage at the bottom of the garden, which I've been 'given permission' to convert into my man cave. SO... following a drunken conversation between myself and a very good friend of mine on Saturday night, Sunday morning we toddled off to get some wood!.. all man caves need wood!

I thought, as you lot on Overclockers are all into man related things, I'd track my little Project on here for you all to see.

Man Cave Info

- Size: 13ft x 18ft - So its quite an area to fill.
- Bar Planned and in progress
- Pool Table acquired
- Fridge acquired
- Dining room/Poker Table acquired

Here's a few pictures of the progress so far...

We decided to go with MDF and struts of 2x4... mainly because I've just moved house and I don't have the money for anything else!

Day 1

- The structure is almost complete, just a few more bits to do to make it look less like a cot.

Day 2

- Finished the base, managed to get the bar front on, as well as the sides!

Day 3

- Cut out the bar top (which may or may not be replaced with a granite top yet (I havn't decided).

Also managed to box in the inside ready for the shelves to go in.

Space for the much required wine rack!

A few randoms I took last night to show the space/junk I have in there....

I'd very much like to go with a sports theme for the room. Red White and Blue is a possible colour scheme, and as i'm quite a big NFL and PAtriots fan I may go down that route... but w shall see, there is plenty of time yet..

Opinions/advice etc etc welcome :)

Lets see what Day 4 brings!

UPDATE: Decided to consolidate all pictures in the OP :) so here are the rest!

What stage is the hiring of the strippers and the fitting of a pole?

No man cave would be complete with out the above

I actually have a few friends that do Pole 'Fitness' (total BS in my opinion)... so there will be a pole ;)

Can I move the post myself or does a mod have to do it? :/

Forgot to mention also, Cave has its own power too :) yey!

You should board out the walls first, breeze blocks are not a good look...:)
Just batten and board them, it will allow electrical and cabling to be ran around too neatly.

Mod has already done it ;)

Just noticed! :) Thanks mod!
I thought you said this was a man cave... Fixed.

Forgive me :(

I have plans to turn the Fridge into a Kegerator... would be nice to se if I can mound the tower/tap onto the actual bar as well. Theres nough room for the fridge behind the bar thats for sure!

I was thinking of doing something with the breeze blocks but thought it would just be too expensive!... what sort of prices would I be looking at? ...

We must've been pretty close, I'm on the same road as Windsor High...

Small World.. I went there as a kid, there's also a Tattoo shop just off the Stourbridge Road. I lived down there with the rents!

Nice space. Got some shots of how it looks outside as well?

Minus the kids slide/thing

The only problem with it being at the bottom of the garden is no plumbing... yet! .. that might be a job for the summer!

Day 4

- More progress, have the laminate cover on the bottom of the bar and got round to doing most of the bar top.

- Also sorted the wine rack and boxed it in, just needs filling and sealing.

There is one slight problm though... we got two packs of the laminate, thinking it would be enough, we're actually 1 plank short from finishing the top...
Unfortunatly, B&Q are evil and won't sell me a single, or even half a pack... looks like i'm going to have to buy a whole pack at £26, or keep an ye on the bay to se if anything comes up.

If anybody is eagle eyed or has a few pieces.. Its Amadeo Shire Oak Laminate!

So things to do tonight...
- Attempt to find laminate or bully B&Q into selling me a single piece
- Find some nice edging to finish off the corners
- Find a dark enough varnish to almost match the Shire Oak (for the edging)
- My man time will be cut short as i'm being dragged to see 'Example' by the missus... lucky me!

Have you tried a story like asking someone for one as a test/sample before you do an entire house? Best asking a manager about this. You can maybe fool them into giving you one for free or small amount of money if they believe you're going to come back and buy **** loads.
