Project: Need your thoughts/ideas

Wow Mishima very nice!

You created a thing of beauty there. Some day when I have some cash and time to spare I'll have to have a go at this myself.

Whatever happened to the idea for 2x120mm fans at the bottom front?

Nice one, I would definately recommend doing it. I hope I have inspired others to do just the same. I just figured I would follow the traditional layout for the airflow, I didn't want to end up installing something that would possibly hinder the flow inside there. Its a shame there isn't an easier way to test out different airflow techniques.

tbqfh... that is actually wanting me to do something like this rather than just spend the money on a v1000b (which i've been pining over for some weeks now)

Not only is it a thing of beauty, it's practical in the fact that it has reduced you temps considerably and i bet it was much easier to work inside too...

Well done mate, cracking job!

There is tonnes of room in there, and it was easier to do things. The only thing that slightly disappointed me is the quality of the paint, there are scratches in some places but that is because of what I chose and like I said I would probably do this slightly different next time anyway. My motherboard temps are amazing they sit at 19-20C and the WD HDD I have sat behind a Yate Loon is kept very cool too its actually quite cool to touch lol.

Get doing it! I'm hoping I have inspired or encouraged others to get their old cases out and get modding - its heaps of fun and the rewards are great!

Thanks will :D

Wicked job you,ve done there mishima :)
Those mobo temps are unbelivable.
Definitely going to give it a go myself the second I see a case similar at a cheap price as it looks a lot of fun :D

i've done a couple of mods and picking your paint type is essential plastikote do loads of different colours and types of paint, but theyy aint always so hot, halfords own brands seem to do me just fine. as for the scratches, you should leave the final coat of paint a while for it to harden properly, and then apply a few clear coats (not sure about that varnish stuff, i always stick with lacquer) and then l;eave that a decent while to harden. one other thing to look out for when you do your next mod (you've got the bug, i can tell ;)) do a couple of coats of primer first, stops paint flaking/bubbling (which can really make you scream :S)

it's a gorgous mod, the white inside looks lovely, especially witht he red fan at the topback, maybe concider painting a few bits inside red? fans/hdds etc would be a lovely mix of colours.

and ofcourse a window in the side ;)
it looks really good, far better than my first mod :S

Its a beautiful case to work on. Of course I can still mod it and repaint if I want to in the future which is a great prospect. I've had to take off the side panel a few times when clearing CMOS etc for overclocking and its knocked the paint where the hooks lock into place (you can't see it) its nothing too bad but its one of those things that next time as you say I will consider in greater depth.

Cheers for the suggestions and support :)

Thankyou. Similar to the other pieces I washed and wet-n-dried the fascia with grade 2000, dried it, and then applied a quick layer of primer and then began coating with paint. I left around 20 minutes between coats.

Halfords and wilkos for the paints and a competitor I can't mention for the mesh. Email trust address if you want to know. :)

Hey,
Just read the thread from beginning to end, fantastic job, very well done.
Definately an inspiration as before the end of my read I had already started browsing for cases!
I may have missed it but did you ever come back with the dimensions, be interested to know on height.
Thanks and again good job

Thanks guys, I have the urge to do another one to be honest. It really was fun. I should have put the dimensions up I must have forgot. Here they are:

187 x 619 x 420 (WxHxD) in mm
