Hi guys
Sooooo... where should I start lots of random bits and pieces done (and some half done
) this round so lets let on with it.
Finally got round to cutting some new steel holding arms for the “fuel cells” as the originals would have been far too big.
Redrilled and Taped as I haven’t got the room for a nut.
And finally bolted down in place with a small clearance all round. There is no thermal paste on this at the moment as I intend to paint the top side of the aluminium.
Marked on the case and cut out a panel for the water block to fit through.
Also 3 extra bolt holes to make sure it don’t move. That’s 19 bolts per fuel cell holding them together!
And fitted in place
The lower fuel cell fitted. I have left it a bit too late to get the stand sorted but should have that in the next post so the only way I can put this pc down is either on its side or on the barrel ends.
This is now in a ideal location to test to the layout inside (this is just a old motherboard for testing the fit)
To make the side panel easily removable I decided to get rid of the nuts holding it in place and buy a threaded rivet gun. First time I had even heard of theses let alone use them.
Grips the aluminium sides really well even though its 3mm thick
Next was the finish off the rear fan grill. Originally I was going to get a rarther generic fan grill there I came across this thing a target Couldnt of asked for a more perfect design.
Nice (the background place is going to be red so the grill will stand out even more.
Onto the lower res (well sort of res by the time I’m done with it) this is also going to be the in/out for the external chillier. 2 Simple rings cutout, drilled and tapped
Originally I was just going to have some aluminium blocks separating theses plates but on my ebay hunt (for the item after this section (no peaking!) came across theses beads they keep in with the slightly gothic theme of 40k that are 10mm high and have a 4mm hole in them ideal for a bolt!
Didn’t take long to fit. With a aquacomputer aquatube on the base also going to be resprayed
Bolted the hard drive bays together also from aquacomputer and i hopefully will have them fitted by the next post.
A little decoration on the left side of the case keeping with the 40k gothic theme. A rather scary looking bronze painted skull this may look out of place at the moment but I intend to turn it more a brass colour to go with the other brass highlights.
Now this should make some of you smile I know I did. This item is also a bottle opener ideal for any occasion cheers!
And here is the progress so far..
Hope you enjoyed it cya next time
