Project: Shiny N Clean

PSU has been picked up but it wont be for another week or so till i see another one so ive started taking apart the computer :D. Going to make the bottom white acrylic panel, fit most of the waterblocks and add a few other parts. I will be taking pictures along the way so i will update later with some nice fuzzy pictures :D

With the colour of your fans, I reckon some UV reactive dye and a UV CCFL would work nicely :) but as you say, leave that until it's really necessary to drain the loop otherwise it's just causing yourself undue stress isn't it lol

Ahhh, I love TJ07 builds, though one thing I will say to you mate, you're going to have a lot of fun trying to fit the double and quad rad into the lower section of the case.

I've got an XSPC quad, and I had intended on using my thick feser double rad for the bottom of my TJ07, but I couldn't get the double to fit with fans attached, in the end I had to go for an XSPC RS240 (really thin rad) with a pair of thin 120mm fans fitted to it, and even that was a struggle.

I did get it fitted in the end, but it was an absolute nightmare, and as for the Feser rad, there was no way in hell that it was going to fit in there, I could have had it fitted without fans installed, but that would have just been pointless imo.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see how you get on, I had a lot of issues with mine when I was setting it up, the Bitspower triple rotary fittings that I was intending on using for my rads ended up being faulty, they kept leaking, so I ended up just switching them out for some 45 degree rotarys instead.

And doing the tubing between each rad was a PITA too, but it was worth it all in the end.

Are you going to get the internals sprayed/powder coated, or are you just leaving the inside as it is?

Good luck with the build mate, I will be keeping an eye on your progress. :)

Sorry for no updates during the weekend guys, I worked flat out on friday and sunday for hours on end and im nearly done most of the modding (Midplate, stealth drive, cable managment holes, pass through holes, putting on the new backplate and mounting the pump & EK rez). I took loads of pictures along the way so I will get them on my laptop and upload them after school before i go to work on making the 5.25" drive cover. I've ended up with a lot of metal fillings getting into my throat so when i start cutting again I need to invest in a proper facemask rather than a tea towel wrapped around my face.

The blocks, brackets and backplate for the graphics cards are also mounted, never stripted one screw :D but i maby mishandled the cards and motherboard quite a lot :( hope dive no passed on and static electricity or overtightend the graphics card block. We will see in time.

I left vinegar in the rads for a good few hours then ran the tap through them to wash them out the put that dionatised water stuff in and let them soak overnight and when I went to check them in the morning I seen that if i looked at the fins i could see some rust in between the fins :(? How would i clean this off? I poured more of that water stuff over them and left them ill check it when i get home.

There is not much left to do really, I've got through quite a lot this weekend and when the tubing and fans arrive i can test out for any leaks then all i have to do is wait on my PSU coming back, sleeving it then get the internals powdercoated :D So far im over the moon because to me the quality so far is very good :D.

I think that you'll be fine. I fingered my motherboard left, right and centre. I had to drill through my graphics card. They both survived :)

A bit of paint was flaking off my rad too. Not much you can do I think, except repaint it, but imo I'd leave it as it is. It's not rust, don't worry. Did you use hot/ warm water? I think that particularly warm water is the cause of it. It won't change the performance of the rad, don't worry :)

Brilliant! How are you going to power the pump? Jump your psu or connect it to a different pc? Don't forget to place tissues everywhere lol.

It's mayhem's dye. They have a website. I think OcUK will be stocking it soon as well :D

Sorry guys for no updates in the last few months, Ive just been busy finishing off the bulid and my prelims :( .

Ive had quite my share of problems when trying to finish this bulid off, like the top of the rad sticks out a bit and I cant get the side panel on properly :( wihich is the only thing that looks bad and spoils it :(

Here is some pictures of the finished bulid... there is some dust in some of the pics which looks like marks but there not :P

I have been running it with the side panel on and off because there is no airflow so the mosfets and nb,sb gets hot too touch and ive not overclocked the cpu yet because of that reason :( will i be alright and it wont get much hotter im looking to hit 4 - 4.2 GHz will that be alright? with the no airflow issue?.

but Ive managed too get 850 on both cards maxing out at 35 C if i remember correctly :D

Over alli am very pleased because this is my first computer bulid and my age :P but i have to give out a big thanks to rjkoneill for inspiring me :D

Thanks guys :D

Well im thinking of adding a few new things to this system because after Christmas I bought a new tv with the money ive saved since finishing this bulid so i have around £500 to spend Max but would like to keep things to a minimum because Im also saving for somthing els... :D I have a weeks hoilday from school next month so i have a month to decide but i need YOUR guys help :D, I want to do more modding if possable and try and make this bulid much cooler and professional.

Im thinking of getting rid of the drive cover i made because its made a lot of problems trying to fit the pump, DVD drive and HD :( and also I cant screw in three of the bay covers without taking mostly the whole PC apart :( but i need somthing to cover the bay left side because I put a big dent on it when it way lying on the floor and I dropped a baking tray onto it :-S

Things I am thinking of doing atm...

Getting a waterblock for my motherboard + MOSFETS so that
I can overclock the CPU safley.

Finding a way to cover or sleeve that ugly SLI bridge.

Getting the Corsair PSU replaced again because that high pich whine is getting worse and anoying, any ideas?

Maby taking out the DVD or getting it replaced drive because it makes some not very good noises and I dont know if OCUK will replace it :D

Getting 2 90 D bitspower fitting for the top of the rads so that I can move the rads closer togither without the daft angle so that I can put my case window on !!! properly! :D

Getting some Liquid metal for the screws for my top window because the holes are stripped ??? (Don't know why) so that will stay on with out tape :(

I dont know if i will Sleeve the cables on the PSU with my MDPC-X blue and black stuff or just leaving it and seling on the sleeving ? what do you think?

Painting my MB backplate thingy, GFX PCI plates and the normal PCI plates because I forgot to send them off when i was getting the rest dont :(!!

Maby changing some of the tygon with some other clear tubing because its soft nd gets very soft and kinks easly as mensiond by thegoon plus ive also think it has staned.

Doing some kind of window mod or some kind of laser cutting design, maby mounting the window on the inside?

Placing one or two white LED strips on the bottom of the case to illuminate the white arcrylic abd to make things look more shiney :D

Some how remove the orange LED in my sound card but i have no idea on how to do this ? :(

Thats all I can think of the now anyway but I want you to feel free to post your OWN ideas :D thanks!

Nice project.

I too have the Corsair AX 1200 and I've got to say that I am very happy with it. Which way up do you have it - fan pointing upwards or downwards? I have the fan facing up.

I have a Nesteq PSU that I initially had pointing downwards. Over time it started making a nasty whine like something was hitting the fan. The noise grew to the extent that I tried to RMA it. I got it sent back to me with no fault found. What they said happened was that some resin/glue was heating up inside and falling into the path of the fan. Once I turned the PSU over the sound disappeared and the PSU was whisper quiet again.

Yeah you've proberly got a new batch where the fault has been fixed because i got one of the first ones and got it replaced a month later (proberly with the same batch) Ive just been waiting a few months until I can get a properly working replacement

I have it sidey ways but i also tryed it before out of the case flat with the same problem (high pich whine). Great PSU tho

Sorry to hear about that noise mate.

I think that your cable management is so good that most cables don't even need to be braided as they're nowhere to be found :D

As for the psu - my Be Quiet! Dark power pro psu is pretty much faultless. The cables are short, so cable management is hard, but it's damn quiet and inaudible with the side panel on.

Also - why are you getting a weeks holiday from school next month? do you get half term already

yeah 11th to 17th :D haha

When i first RMA'd the PSU they couldn't refund me because it was 29 days old and the cut off was 28 days :P good psu tho cables ect...

Just trying to figure out how to make and easly removeable drive cover bay atm... oh well, ive got a month to think about it :D

My half term isn't for about 6 weeks :\

I'm thinking about changes I should make to my system. I reckon I'll get another 360/240 rad to go on the back of the case. I'll probably replace my blue led fans with vipers, and I want to get a proper quick ssd :D

What hard drive are you using?

Also what fps do you get in crysis (obvious question) :p
