Project: Temjin-S

Hmmm, I see your point, but the reason I'm not going to do it myself is because the wall between my room and the second bedroom is really thin. I'd do something seriously nooby and drill through it!!

Also, the idea of having someone to blame if it snaps in two, destroying £2k of kit appeals to me :p

I'll see what they quote first, but if it's too high, I'll ask my friends dad whos a builder :p

Ahh good point on the insurance side of things it would make life easier but you dont have to drill anything just get some good cuts done and use some kind of supports.
Most of my internal walls are drywall so i resorted to this in mancave number 2 not a drill hole in sight.

The rooms only 75" x 72" so space is a premium

I wish you luck with whatever you decide to do sah but think it'll be a good incentive if you could see this sorted first ;):)

Well, as I said, i'll ask Sharps to come in, do me a design and give me a quote. Not sure whether they'll need to rip the current desk out though.

If they do, then i'll get a whole new unit done :D

Do you guys think it's doable for £100 as IIRC, they offer discounts for previous customers and i spent £4k last time when I moved in

The quality of workmaship is excellent but what I really need to do is come up with a stringent set of criteria for the designer. Any suggestions greatly welcomed!!

It seems like you already know what is capable from this designer and you seem happy with it. You also do not want to do it yourself, so I would say to go with sharps. As for criteria of build, the most I'm portant thing would be to go ahead and sketch something up your self so you know where your equipment is going to sit and you will also see where the desk needs to be at its strongest. Sketching this you can setup a height that is good for you ergonomically so you are most comfortable. If I were you I would stress cable management and lighting features the most, a little light behind your viewing source can really save your eyes in those long sessions. I don't know how much any of this will cost, but my op is more than £100 I'm American and cannot see this being less than $350. I have done this kind of work before and I believe it is the way to go, but you must stress cable management because this will be a permanent fixture.

Thanks for both suggestions :)

I think height is something I already know. I basically want then to add a plank of wood to my current desk and basically make that plank strong as hell :D

I think you're right, if they rip the whole thing out and re do then it will probs be around £200. If its just another plank of wood, then I think £100 is achievable.

My main requirements so far:

Cable management
Strength
Long
Simple

For lighting, I think I'll have some discrete blue LEDs off the edges of the three monitors from ikea. Might get a long flexlight instead. Whichever is cheapest TBH ;)

As always, any further ideas will be greatly appreciated ;)

Still waiting on that pesky rad!

Ordered a HDD block and one of those new jet plates for my CPU block.

Was busy yesterday and will be extremely busy all of today so will get pics up in two weeks once I sort the desk out.

Look forward to that Mr Cleeecooo sah i think Mr schizo is starting his monday or next weekend too, am allmost there with my bits just need to decide on gpus and i shall join the madness :D

Already got the 3 monitors :D:p

Not too sure. Might not even upgrade anything!

All depends on the cost of the desk and how much money i'll have!!

Might get SB-E for myself as a christmas pressie
