Project; Turbo GSXR Slingshot

Its closer than 4 weeks ago but not much.

Lock up still isn't fitted, Stu is looking to use a B12 inner hub as the lock up fits straight on it. I think it'd be better and easier to modify the centre nut and fit the lock up to that leaving the clutch standard.
I'm not the expert though so I'll have to sit tight.

As thats not fitted obviously its not been on the dyno yet.

Top yoke is taking a little longer as well, top side is about done so needs the back cutting off, jaws making to hold it in the vice then the bottom doing.

3D milling takes time to program and even longer to mill!

No idea on weight, didn't feel too heavy pushing it on the trailer with a full tank of fuel though. Will have to find a weigh bridge when its done.

Stu has fitted the lock up, ready to book the dyno now.

Needs a new battery as the old one isn't holding its charge, couple of years old now though and hardly used. Stu has ordered one and its on its way.

Its booked in for the dyno on Wednesday, not a quick job but if it all holds together I'll hopefully be able to pick it up next weekend.

The yoke is nearly done, he's had a break from it as the bike isn't ready. Looking to be finished and anodised by the end of next week.

New pair of forks have arrived as the others were a bit bent. These are supposed to be off a 0 miles bike, look very tidy.

Assuming it all goes well I'll have Sunday and a week of evenings to put the front end together and mount the clocks. MOT on the Saturday after.

Couple of weeks yet...

Ooo, few pics of the cush hub after anodising. Was too busy to take any once it was fitted!

Must ask about a vid of the dyno too.

Well, not heard anything from the dyno yet.

I can only assume its being worked on and is going ok, will have to see if Stu can find out or give me a number to call to find out if its going ok.

The top yoke came off the mill tonight, needs de-burring, clamp bolt holes drilled and tapped then anodising.

Original yokes are well off fitting, plus different front end geometry between the bikes means the offset on the yokes would affect handling.
I've kept the gsxr offset so rake, trail etc should be the same. I can adjust the offset with different inserts in the yokes should I need to as well.

I called the dyno centre last week but the were having trouble getting it to idle correctly. Had a short chat with them but I think the amount of work needed was lost somewhere.
Downside of not dealing with them directly I suppose.

one thing ill say though is the machined parts do look very plain, i know machining is expensive and plain is also much easier (especially for rotating parts) but the cush hub/clutch cover both sold have looks much better with just some say "ribs" on the large flat faces.

but that is adding weight, cost and complexity for nothing more than aesthetics ill admit :p

Yea the cush hub could have had some engraved recesses in it but the main concentration was on the inside bits with asthetics an afterthought really. Only cost me materials though and most isn't seen so I'm not complaining.

Seems its decided to develop an electrical miss fire which is screwing with the dyno guy, not what should be happening! :(

Awesome project, some great work. Ride safe when you get it running though, don't want to hear that you've hurt yourself and written it off. When did I become so boring?

Recieved some bad news today, the issues John has been having with the bike have continued. He got it idling nicer this morning but the outer 2 cylinders were burning hotter than the inner 2.

The lambda reads slightly lean but the plugs are sooted up so there's an issue there somewhere.

Now the bike no longer runs, the ecu doesn't connect to the pc, the fuel pump runs continously on power up and the ignition amplifier as too hot to touch.

Basically, there's an issue with the wiring somewhere and the ecu is dead.

Obviously there are more ecu's out there now which are much better packages and they're more affordable too.
So I'm waiting on a price for a new ecu wired in and set up.
