I'm I alone in thinking Alien3 Directors Cut was a lot better then Cinema release?
Was surprised how much was cut out of the original.
Nope and Ridley said that there never will be.
Plus have you seen the deleted stuff on the DVD? It just makes the film worse.

Not sure if you guys have talked about it but else where it has been discussed that the stupidity (possibly like mine for opening this can of worms) of the team was actually part of Vickers plan. She wanted the mission to be botched and succession in the company to be without doubt. Unfortunately for her she underestimated what they'd find

Not really, it also helps explain why Milburn wasn't scared of the mutated snake creature, he'd already seen them in a smaller state. As it stands without that scene it comes across as really out of character he'd reach out towards the snake.
Another thing is the whole fight with the engineer and rapeface at the end is so abrupt because they cut so much of it.
Also, story aside, Prometheus is one of the best looking 3D movies around, some scenes in that movie are an absolute work of art.
It amazes me that people actually consider Alien 4 to be better than 3. I personally thought 3 was fairly good, but 4 was an absolute piece of steaming manure that is an utter stain on the franchise.
As are the AVP films for that matter. The moment the predator passes the tail as a spear and a head as a shield onto that woman literally had me laughing my **** off, unbelievably appalling.
No. Alien 3 freaking amazing. AMAZING.
Everything about it screams iconic, it has tonnes and tonnes of brooding atmosphere which I love and makes for great cinema, great dialogue, it's tough, gritty, real. I used to much prefer Aliens and Alien3 was initially a disappointment but now held in very high regard. Suggest you re-watch and re-educate yourself on your opinions.
Just because a sci-fi horror isn't set on a space ship in space doesn't mean it's not a sci-fi horror. Plenty of sci-fi films have poverty stricken low-tech prison planets. Refreshing to break away from tired cliches and if I understood correctly, the whole point was to recreate some of the initial spark and claustraphobia of the first film by having one beast to contend with, after the second film somewhat diminshed the prowess of the alien by having multiples of it.

As awful as Alien 4 was (and I agree), Prometheus was worse.
I believe it may be the single most disappointing film I have ever seen. Garbage. Mostly I'm talking about the script. The cinematography and other technical aspects were probably pretty good.
But a garbage script makes a garbage film in my book.
There are things we cannot undo, repair, fix or forget in Alien universe.
We cannot undo that the of two most brilliant movies in history of Sci Fi were followed by half baked Chronicle of Riddick'esque prison story and whatever-the-f-that-es-with-Winona-was-supposed-to-be.
We cannot repair the fact that before crew of Nostromo saw egg pods onboard Space Jockey's ship for the first time, xenomorphs were long battling Predators in pyramids under Antarctica's ice caps. Thanks very ****** much, AvP extended universe.
We cannot fix the fact Damon "let's spend 24 episodes on discovering that "special" Walt was not special at all" Lindel-ef-off was hired to butcher prequel to Alien into an outside-of-Alien-universe barely-Alien-adjacent mish-mash and could not be bothered to familiarise himself with the universe itself nor proofread his own rectal seepage of a screenplay.
But we should not forget that it is not too late to stop participating in destruction of the legacy and legend of the first two movies. After all, do you even care what happens to girl with a dragon tattoo on the planet of waxy men and their magically universal goo?
