Pronunciation of texted?

'Tex-ted' is obviously the correct way to say it.
'Text' as a past-tense form is a bit lazy - some would call it substandard - but understandable to me if you're speaking quickly, particularly for a verb that hasn't been around long enough to gain 'standard' conjugations.
'Text-ted' is really hard to enunciate in addition to sounding ridiculous - don't know why anyone would say it

"I just sent you a text"

There, problem solved! :D

As for the real arguement, text is not a verb, thus texted is just as wrong as saying text as an action. So there :p

Infact, the term "text" is purely the adjective describing what kind of message you sent, the full statement should be "I sent you a text message", so if you want to shorten it, message would be an appropriate verb to use as in "I messaged him".

Who needs grammar nazi? :D

Would that be "Who needs a grammar nazi?"
or "Who needs grammar nazis?"?

The latter makes more sense so I'll assume you meant that :)

The word is texted - pronounced "teks ted". Anything else is wrong - anyone who shortens a word as short as texted is lazy. Laziness is a poor excuse for being wrong.

Indeed. Texted has to be the correct past tense for sending a text message. When people use "text" as a past tense, I imagine what their brain is actually processing is "text'd" but when you say the word it ofted just comes out as "text" or "tex'd"

I fax my customer last night.
I drive my car to work yesterday
I call you last week

People wouldn't say any of the above, surely? Using those examples as precedent I can see how text is the correct past tense for text.
