PS3 console price

Mine is £30 a month on O2, phone was crap, but I got another phone I use anyway, and the PS3 was free, unlike some deals where you pay £xxx for the 'phone', and my Gran uses the contract anyway so she gives me the money for it. :D

I got a nokia n95 (which was £300 on payg at the time) 400 mins and 1000 texts (more than i needed) for £20/month. I also got £100 cashback effectively giving me the first 5 months free.

Contracts that come with consoles do cost more.

Yes the ps3 is expensive, but remember that it includes wireless which is an extra £50 you would have to spend. Also psn is free which is in effect £40 knocked off compared to a 360.

Not that I want to argue this point, but they do not cost more it's the same tariff (the standard £30 tariff from CPW 400mins 500 text) with a PS3, the phone cost me nothing, I just had to sacrifice a good phone for the PS3.

The cheaper tariffs are generally on-line deals and this is why they are cheaper.

As said I do not wish to argue. :)

Thanks. Mine died recently as you may or may not know. Going to be heatgunning it tomorrow hopefully. Its my beloved 60GB and I'm considering not selling it. I took out the Continuous Play cover just in case you see. Might keep it now! (if it works). Was going to put it up on eBay but not so sure now... :o

When I got my refurb unit back from Sony last week, I considered selling it.
I mean, fresh back from Sony with 3 months of Warranty, best time to sell it if I was going to. Not many 60gb sales can come with a warranty, may make it worth a bit more.

I was then going to use the money to get a brand new PS3, if I could track down a 45nm model, as I'm not sure if the 80gb are 45nm yet?

Then decided "to hell with it" and am just using the "new" 60gb one after all ;)
and InFamous arrived this morning, so it'll be getting a good bit of use later :D

Vin.

I thought the XBOX was too epensive when it came out, so I bought the one without a hard drive.
Then I needed a hard drive to download demos.
Then I wanted to go online, so I bought a wifi adapter.
Then I had to buy a gold membership to play online.
Then I wanted a wireless controller, So I bought one and the charge kit.
Then I wanted to watch HD movies, so I bought the HD DVD Drive.
Then I had to replace the console itself.

The guy at the store I bought the xbox from laughed at me every time I went back to buy add ons. :D

You win the most cliched and pointless post of the year award. Let's not going into this bull**** again. Both consoles are missing implementions and aspects that the other has. They both add up to the same pricing, but the PS3 doesn't give anywhere near as much flexibility (don't want this feature? don't pay for it then, as opposed to paying for the lot and potentially only using certain features).

It's a pity these threads devolve into 'BUT BUT SOMEHOW THE PS3 IS REALLY CHEAP ACTUALLY'. If I want to play Halo 3 I only have to spend 100 quid maximum, not a stupid amount of £250 plus if I want to play on the equivalent Killzone 2.

edit: if you look hard enough, there are gaming PCs that run Crysis fine at a price lower than that of the PS3. It IS ridiculous whether you like it or not, and Sony only has themselves and their hubris to blame for it.

Well said. It seems some people still cling to the same tired old arguments.

Please point me too this pc ? or price the parts for less than £250 for a pc that can run Crysis fine ?

To ask for a spec for PC, in a playstation 3 thread it's pretty obvious you're trying to do, And it leads to nothing but arguements

Yeah, decided it was better to leave it as the one you quoted, made more sense and saved another response :p

Let me clean up, Wannabedamned.

You realize I can't link any old PC parts because it's due to anti-competitor rules ? It's not difficult to look it up for yourself either.

If we only went by OcUK itself, which isn't the cheapest place;

300 quid, will play Crysis on High at 720p no problem. This isn't even the cheapest you could find anywhere. There are far cheaper systems and custom setups to be found elsewhere. Most shops with the option to personally select the individual parts for assembly will offer this.

On topic: there won't be a PS3 price drop anytime soon, as the post-E3 bundles have been shown already and they're still £300 quid. Sony's revenue comes from the PS2.

Bit uncalled for really :/ Im a 360 owner so im hardly going to be part of the sony defence force.

I wasnt starting the whole 360vsps3 fangirl rubbish. It goes without saying that you buy the console with the features that you would use more. I was showing to the op that the ps3 isnt as expensive as the 360 when it comes to it.

Since when did i say it was cheap? i said it was expensive.

No monitor
No keyboard
No mouse
No speakers
No Operating System

Anyone that wants to play Crysis sure isn't going to buy a bare bones system to play it. Also, why bother getting a 360 if you can just play the games on a cheap pc? This argument goes both ways.

My god this thread got boring fast. Cheets has had his question answered, can we just let it drop off the front page so these tired arguments can crop up sometime next month like they do every month.
