PS3 console price

No monitor
No keyboard
No mouse
No speakers
No Operating System

Anyone that wants to play Crysis sure isn't going to buy a bare bones system to play it. Also, why bother getting a 360 if you can just play the games on a cheap pc? This argument goes both ways.

Didn't know PS3s came with HDTVs! Let's play this game all day! :D

Anyone buying a console probably has a tv. Anyone buying a pc for the first time probably doesn't have a monitor.

Christ this is sad. The sun is out and the birds are chirping. What the hell are we doing arguing over this rubbish. :/

Yes the ps3 is expensive, but remember that it includes wireless which is an extra £50 you would have to spend. Also psn is free which is in effect £40 knocked off compared to a 360.

360 at £160, wireless adapter + 12 months live £70, extra LIVE at £30 a year.

£230 for premium 360 with wireless and LIVE. saving over PS3 would give you an extra 2 years LIVE.

your right, PS3 is expensive.

Yep, expensive, But it's an awesome console and well worth it. I hate this pricing up extras for comparison crap. That's not a stab at you btw. I mean in general, The PS3 is a more expensive console, with extras built in. It's still a great console and worth the cash, but it'd be great if it fell in price obviously.

And then the 360 is an awesome console also, Cheaper with optional components.

I hate it when they are pited against against each other. It's wierd lol, especially in a thread that asks nothing about a 360

The PS3 pricing is not good at all Blu-ray pricing has dropped players can be purchased for £100 now but the PS3 still continues to be very highly priced.

If Sony drop to £200 then it's very good deal but currently it will continue to suffer until they drop it only people buying is fanboys average joe dont want all the fancy extras they buy it for a games console used to be for blu-ray player but like i stated they have dropped so no one will pay more then double for that feature anymore

Funny thing is... Whats affordable to 1 person isnt to another person, So this is all subjective, £250+ for a console is fine, I mean I paid around about that for the 360.

I'd buy one in a shot, but the price is still sky high, needs to drop....a lot

Completely agree with you, if sony were to drop the price of the PS3 to around say the £200 mark i would buy one in a shot.

From what i hear Xbox 360 and Wii sales are still far superior to the PS3's
so sony will have to do something soon.

so true, if only some PS3 owners could understand that 360 is not as expensive as PS3 even with LIVE and wireless adapter. ;)

me, i own all 3 and the Wii easily cost the most by the time you add the needed extras.

Indeed it's annoying, but it's true. The PS3 is the cheapest when you take into account the fact it has wireless and Blu-ray built in along with free multiplayer. Especially when it can be had for £250 pretty much constantly already due to deals etc. Could still use a RRP drop though.

I paid £320 for mine. Worth every penny :)

The problem is people often interpret the terms cheap and value for money differently. The PS3 certainly isn't cheap but it does offer fantastic value for money assuming you need/want all of the features it has.

Thats just it, I'm guessing you think its worth the £425, My friend got a release day Jap console and he's never regretted it one bit. Obviously if it was cheaper he'd not grumble though :p

Yea tbh if it didnt play PS2 games then I would be a little bit bothered.

I paid way too much for my launch day NTSC 60gb PS3. Now that I'm not a "hardcore" gamer anymore, I enjoy watching movies more now. The PS3 does everything I wanted as far as a all in one entertainment pack goes. I just find most games today too frustrating.

I sold my NTSC 60gb though, wanted a PAL 40gb so I don't have to import certain blu-rays.
