PS3 Demand / Availability ?

The big red and white airline shop's branches have sold out this morning near me (two big west end shops)

Thats even after double checking everyone on their pre-orders are actually collecting them within 24 hrs

Jamoor, you got greedy, far to greedy, could you not tell last week that the PS3 was not going to sell out, I had 4 on order and cancelled them all.

I made a fortune on the 360 and Wii launch but I did not get blinded by greed.
He was not greedy enough.
If he had ordered 190,000 not 19 then they would be in short supply and the price would rocket.

Yeah I got greedy, but I haven't made much of a lostt, only £50

I got mine today with 5 games :D

Store a) had 8 allocated for people who hadn't preordered
Store b) as above but 30

Neither know when there next delivery is...

Just come back from supermarket and seems they got plenty there.

Next week i'll have to remember to pop into one of the big electrial store to see if they got a PS3 running as they had a 360 on launch, so atleast I can say i've played one hehe :p

Be interesting to see what kind of deals will be floating around Christmas time, there should be some great deals with all 3 consoles launch now altho I have no or very little interest in the wii, its just not for mii ;).

Every shop i have run says they got plenty of them in, i asked about stock and they saying they had more xbox 360's in when they came out just looks to me ps3 aint going to sell huge amounts.

There was deffo a bigger buzz over the 360 and most places had sold out months before they came out.

Its March, its spring time, no Christmas spending sprees.

People have had over 12 months to save for them! they thought they were getting them last year.

Xbox 360 Premium Console + HD DVD Drive + Live Arcade + Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adaptor (Live)

Comes just under 450 pounds

I baught ps3 Cheaper

What if you're happy with regular DVD and want a games machine?
£280 for a premium 360 with gears of war, that's a gamers bundle and there's nothing wrong with DVD for the mass consumer. PS3 Blu-ray hasnt blown me away, and Im the only one in my family who would notice the difference anyway.

There seems to be some great xbox 360 deals in local video game shops.

Premium Pack

Crackdown

Gears Of War

Project Gotham Racing 3

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2007

Xbox Live Arcade Unplugged Vol 1

Extra Wireless Controller - £304.99

seems really good to me for the price.

Hope it starts a price war and the PS3 prices drops fast and hard

I don't buy its the time of year etc, i just think its too damned expensive not everyone wants a blue ray player they just want a games console, i personally wouldn't give a crap about a blue ray player.

Stock costs money so stock is bad for retailers and manufacturers.
I think that they over estimated the demand at the price point, they may have expected consumers to compare like with like (HDD size, Wifi, HDMI, Bluray) instead of bottom line prices.

I want PS3 to sell well and succeed.
I want 360 to sell well and succeed.
I want Wii to sell well and succeed.

The more competition the better, the higher the standard of the competition the better and for us as consumers it means more choice, cheaper prices and better games.

Sony could not win here though. If the stocks were limted then there would be cries of "they've had a year to get stocks there is no reason why stocks are low" and if stocks were high then "hahaha they aren't selling".

From a pure financial point of view I think they overestimated initial demand and set the price too high. I am more likely to get a second 360 than a PS3 at the moment.

A nice balanced view.. and exactly my sentiments as well.. I'd like to add a PS3 to the stable, but I am tempted to get another 360 with HDMI for the front room..

Well You can wait for the 20GB PS3. Wich is a good bit cheaper than the wifi top model...... And still has a blue-ray player in it

I know I wont be getting one until they are like £200 or less.
Prepare yourself for a long wait then.

The Bluray drive itself will ensure that the unit won't be anything like that price for at least 2-3 years.
