Since our lasses son got his wii and brought it round on Xmas day i've been really impressed (though not enough to pay extortionate prices they are going for atm), i really like the whole concept - and the possibilities for the future, however, i popped into our independent gaming store today and noticed a preview for GT5 being displayed on a 40" KDL2000W and to say it looks impressive is an understatement, so after that, i've been thinking wether to go for a PS3 instead, now to cap it all off, i've heard the new GTA game is being released in March, and i really like the GTA series.

So, what should i go for, the wii with its endless fun and possibilities ar the ps3 with its blu-ray and HD gaming and awesome graphics, i really don't know which direction to go now :(

Personally if it has to be between the two, I'd choose the PS3. The wii seems too gimmicky - don't know how else to describe it :(

Do you have an Xbox360? GTA on the Xbox360 is getting additional content which cost Microsoft $50m, so it's bound to be good.
The Xbox360 for me has a better catalogue of games, but if you have your heart set on one of those 2 then I couldn't possibly recommend the Wii ahead of the PS3.

Blu-Ray is good, but the PS3 is lacking its exclusives at the moment.

Where abouts in Redcar btw?

I'd get a PS3 now, I want a Wii but i'm waiting for them to come back in stock in the shops I'm not going to pay over the retail price.

wii is more as a fun for all the family kinda console and isnt in the same league.... get the PS3 for some real gaming.

50% failure rates on the 360 worldwide... enough said.

oh and gt5 is awesome :)

I'd say PS3, On the principal of your TV. Bluray movies are awesome, Add to that the games. And you have yourself a very nice new Toy.

That said, There's a rather large price difference between the PS3 and Wii.

Wii is a great piece of kit, a lot cheaper, But you may find it underwhelming after a while.

btw, Fellow MPFSee?

Flip a coin

Both are worthy consoles and have their ups and downs, if you have freinds/family round a lot then the wii is worth considering, as their is more fun to be had in party titles than in singleplay titles as the only worthwhile titles so far are Nintendo created.

However if you like to slouch in front of the TV and play some high definition action games or racing sims then the ps3 is probably the better choice.

I would opt for the wii but that would be bias because i am a Nintendo fan.

Wii is definetly not a gimmick.

having owned a Wii and now owning a PS3, I find the PS3 much more fun - the potential of the Wii is amazing, and a lot of fun when I had a group of friends round. There weren't, however, many games on the Wii that interested me with regards to the single player experience (or multiplayer online) - those games will come, I'm sure - Mario Kart would have been one of my must haves I think

I've found the PS3 to be more fun - more games and a better catered for social community (I'm sure the 360's is better again but I haven't got one so can't comment too much on that).

The PS3 also has a small number of games that work well with the sixaxis controller and some decent games that work well with the playstation eye (entertaining my 7 & 8 year old nieces over Christmas with Mesmerise for example).

I would probably buy a Wii again, but it would mostly be used with friends & family in mind :)

I just chucked my wii back into my bedroom for the kids to play, i havent bothered turning it on through the whole xmas holidays, It dosent do anything for me. PS3 and 360 get played on a daily basis.

Pretty sure the PS3 is getting it's own content too, Rockstar just refuse to comment on it. (Obviously since MS paid for theirs) :D

Wow, nice made up statistic there.

It can't be far off mate ;)

Anyway, get a PS3 OP :D

The Wii does suffer from a lack of titles and also an online community, but I think 2008 should be a good year for it hopefully. I think its niche really is party games and getting physical - I was close to breaking a sweat in Wii sports the other night, great fun. Just what you need after too many mince pies over xmas! If you want next gen graphics forget the Wii, but then again if you do want that and a great online community I go one better than PS3.....my PC!! ;)

If you mostly play by yourself get a PS3, otherwise get a Wii :)

360 is the best bet though, why have you ruled it out?

going off your position on ocuk map - about 5 minutes away - though not officially Redcar town - just didn't want to be associated with Middlesbrough :D

Wannabedamned - yes i am a mpfser.

I like the fun to be had with the wii, xbox maybe an option, but isn't it getting a bit long in the tooth now?, ps3, gfx are awesome.
